Conference Highlights

I’ve jotted highlights from speakers of the General Conferences of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These are not accurate summaries, but highlights of what I found personally meaningful, and they are penned according to how I remember them. Direct quotes are contained in quotation marks. Otherwise, the notes are summarizing my understanding of ideas presented. For official conference transcripts in text audio and video formats, visit

2014 October Boyd K Packer

-The topical guide found in the standard works of the LDS are perhaps the most comprehensive reference guide to the scriptures that has ever been made.

-Before we came to earth we agreed to live according the the law of God.

-Those who will repent and forsake sin will find that his merciful arm is stretched out still.

-Those who listen to his servants will find peace and understanding even in the midst of trials.

-With no redemption we could never be forgiven, and that would make for a difficult world.

-The Atonement of Christ is for us to have not only forgiveness but peace.

-When something terrible happens to us, we may cry out someone must pay for this wrong! But someone has already paid. It is Christ.

-The guilt that accompanies mistakes can be washed away.

-No matter our size as a church, the strength of it’s individuals is what determines it’s strength.

-A testimony of the hope of the holy redemption is something that cannot be measured.

-We teach the gospel to young old rich poor married single and people of every nation.

-We need to seek out those who have strayed and bring them to the fold.

-We need every members’ insight.

-The body of the church is one, and there are many members, but one body, so also as Christ.

-Each member serves as a testimony of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

-The adversary is against us, we need each of us if we are to succeed.

-What can we do since we are only one person? Joseph Smith felt very alone, but he prayed about which church to join. His faith in the Savior grew as ours must grow, little by little. Joseph knelt to pray, and what marvelous things have come from that prayer!

-As an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, I bare witness that he lives.

-As we move into the future with quiet confidence, he will be with us.

-There is no limit to how much he can bless those who seek him.

2014 October Lynn Robins of the Seventy

-A seventy does not represent the people facing the prophet, but the prophet facing the people. Beware which way you face, don’t fear men. This taught President Packer.

-We don’t tolerate or condone wickedness.

-Isaiah warns us, “fear ye not the reproach of men”

-When the fear of men tempts us to condone sin it becomes a snare.

-Some missionaries won’t report flagrant disobedience to their mission president because of the fear of men.

-We don’t tolerate or participate in what has been condemned by God.

-Decisions of character are made by remembering the order of the first two great commandments.

-At age 22 Joseph Smith even forgot which way he was to face when he shared to record with Martin Harris. Whatever Joseph’s reasons were the Lord did not excuse him but rebuked him saying “You should not have feared man more than God.”

-When one tries to condone disobedience of man yet says he serves God is serving two masters and can’t be done.

-Courage is the gift of the God fearing who have said their prayers.

-Courage is the form of every virtue at the breaking point.

-Many in the scriptures almost did the right thing but then feared the people and did the wrong thing.

-Perfect love casteth out all fear

-Nephi said he writes what is pleasing to God not man

-Moroni said he seeks to pull power down and help his country

-Book of Mormon says if all men were like Moroni the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men

-The guilty taketh the truth to be hard for it cutteth them to the center says the Book of Mormon

-President Lee taught “the hit bird flutters”

-People try to get the Lord to lower his standards to what the world expects. Such is apostasy and makes us worse not better.

-Many churches profess to know the Christ but minister that which is sacred to those that are not worthy, says the Book of Mormon, and so it is in our day.

-Bishops today boldly defend the temple standard of who can enter for the Savior said he will bless us as we don’t pollute his house; he cleansed the temple chasing people out.

-Jesus tried to not be popular: he oft told people not to tell others about what he did for them; he condemned others for liking to pray in public.

-163 times Jesus used the title father in the Book of Mormon.

-New Testament Jesus refers to his father at least 50 times.

-Jesus is the only one who has always faced the right direction.

-May we go about doing good as anonymously as possible.

-Put the first commandment where it belongs, before the second commandment.

2014 October Sister Esplin Primary General Presidency

-The sacrament is about doing what God wants rather than what we want.

-The sacrament prayer reminds us that Jesus said “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15.

-We repent when we take the sacrament, and we recall Jesus’ enabling power, helping us to serve beyond our capacity. Seeing this can help us get through the repentance part.

-Thanking God for the enabling power in our lives he gives us helps us look forward to the sacrament.

-All of us make mistakes from Sabbath to Sabbath.

-We receive forgiveness by repairing the damages we have done to the best of our ability. Bring this to the sacrament table, and you’ll be forgiven.

-There is a spirit of warmth that attends the sacrament from head to foot, helping us feel our spiritual wounds heal.

-The sacrament reminds us that Christ will ALWAYS be our bread of life and our living water.

-The sacrament is the way that our souls will never hunger or thirst, but will always be filled.

-Multitudes are filled with the Spirit of Jesus Christ as they take the sacrament.

-Christ says whoever comes to him he will receive; and blessed are those who come unto him.

-Aaronic Priesthood holders represent the Savior as they prepare the sacrament.

-When Priesthood holders extend their arm to offer you the sacrament, it’s like the Savior’s arm of mercy offering you his help.

-The more we take the sacrament the more we appreciate it, even into our old age.

-Those who are deaf and blind still benefit from going to church because of the sacrament.

-The sacrament is holy, and renews our souls.

-We feel of the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as we take the sacrament.

2014 October Elder Chi Hong Wong of The Seventy

-Our rescue efforts to bring people to Christ are just like that of accounts in the New Testament like when they brought the man on the stretcher through the roof. We need to coordinate like they did, and work together like they did. There are many spiritually paralyzed who just aren’t able to come back to the church alone, we can help them, particularly through councils of the church.

-Missionaries love to have lists of people to work with from the ward council.

-The man on the stretcher was brought in by several people, and verse 5 says “when Jesus saw THEIR faith” he healed the man. This could include people praying for him, those who carry him there, church leaders who organize and carry this out, or far away friends.

-When we help save souls with Jesus Christ we will be saved in the process.

2014 October Elder Christofferson

-Who bares responsibility for what happens in our lives? Us. Not our governments etc. Every man is accountable for his own sins in the day of judgment. God doesn’t live our lives for us, or puppet for us like Lucifer wanted to do, nor will the church leaders puppet for us. Brigham Young taught that none should be satisfied with what he does unless they get the spirit of revelation concerning it.

-Our very being on earth is because we obeyed God in the premortal life. We are expected to continue to obey God here.

-Not living up perfectly to God’s Celestial Law can be erased by Jesus Christ.

-It’s because he is just that God makes mercy. Each exercise their part.

-People are born into this world innocent because of Jesus Christ.

-We can choose who we want to be. We aren’t to be acted upon, we are to act for ourselves. We can even choose to become like God.

-Denying God’s supremacy will result in achieving far less than we otherwise could have in life.

-A God who makes no demands upon us, and it’s like there is no God at all if such were the case.

-Some say they don’t think there is a right or wrong concerning what is true, it’s just whatever they think.

-Some feel pressured to think that there is right and wrong, and not just whatever they think. They set themselves up as their own “higher power/diety” setting all the rules for themselves.

-Resenting the law of gravity won’t keep a person from falling if he steps off a cliff, and the same applys to the rest of God’s laws.

-Freedom can be applied when we apply it, not when we rebel against it.

-There was a man who would not work; he had paid his tithing and his taxes, now he thought it someone elses duty to do everything for him. They drove him to the cemetery thinking nothing else could be done for him. One man said “wait we can’t do this, I have some corn we can give him”. the man responded “is there husks on it?” Yes, there were, so the man said simply, “Well then, drive on.”

Song, “If I listen with my heart I can hear the Savior’s voice”

2014 October President Deiter Uchdorf

-In a very short period of time our understanding of things can change very quickly.

-Like discovering more than one galaxy before unknown to us, people of the past would not understand us attempting to explain to them cell phones microwaves internet etc.

-Often people are well meaning only mislead, or uninformed.

-God has given us his children the promise that we can know truth for ourselves. He will speak in a way that is unmistakable and that transcends human experience, and will give us answers for our personal lives.  Some say this is impossible and that God has better things to do, but I tell you this, God cares about you and he will listen to your questions. His answers will come in his own way and time and therefore you need to learn to listen to his voice. His Savior is the way.

-Answers come from our attempts to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

-We need to search the ancient and modern day prophets’ words with desire to learn not criticize.

-Continue desiring to learn about God.

-You must consider how merciful God has been in providing prophets to lead his church to help lead his children back to him.

-You must ask God weather the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true.

-Finally, you must do God’s will in order to “know of the doctrine weather it be of God or weather I speak of myself.” Aka, to find out if the church teachings are true, you must first live them. Put them to the test in your own life. Do this with faith in God, and you have his PROMISE that light will be given you, incomprehensible to mortal sight.

-Some say this is not worth the effort or too hard, but a testimony of the gospel and of this church is the most important thing you can gain in your life. It will guide you not only in this life but throughout eternity.

-If you want to come to knowledge of spiritual truth, you need to use spiritual instruments that can discern it (*like scriptures and living gospel principals, not just by reading scholarly books or scientific reviews).

-If we remove ourselves from the gospel, the light begins to dim over time until we look back and can’t believe why we ever believed the gospel is true. What once was clear seems hazy. Paul teaches this in the New Testament.

-The Church of Jesus Christ is a place for uniting us not separating us.

-When we come closer to the Lord, that vision of truth can become clear once again, the haze departing.

-Get a testimony and you can keep it worlds without end to guide you.

2014 October Elder Oaks

-The world hates Christ’s teachings because his teachings are not of the world.

-Love is the center of the gospel.

-Can’t be leaven to raise the lump if we only associate with those who share our beliefs.

-Christ makes his teachings clear so we don’t have to contend with each other. His doctrine causes contention to cease, and it is his doctrine that such should be done away.

-Even those that keep the commandments need to be sure that they don’t cause contention.

-Mildness, meekness, with all humility, reviling not against revilers. This is how to share the gospel.

-We must not surrender our position.

-There is no middle ground in the context of what our doctrine is.

-When we hold out for right and wrong today we are sometimes called biggots and fanatics.

-Teach the commandments as plainly and as throughly as we understand them. Such is our constitutional guarantee, and is allowed in private conversation in other countries.

-Followers of Christ should be examples of civility.

-Though we may disagree we should not be disagreeable.

-Speech on controversial topics should not be contentious.

-Others we ask you to respect LDS religion. We respect others.

-Accept failed attempts to share the gospel graciously.

-No need to distance ourselves from those who believe differently than we do; let your children also play with other children not of our faith.

-No hateful communications in politics.

-We don’t need to facilitate or condone cohabitation. There are other ways to deal nicely to them.

-A woman whose husband was not baptized for ten years though he attended the church, then his wife chose to be very kind to him for a month, and he was baptized. She chose to continue to be extra nice, seeing as they were working on getting a temple marriage. He later became bishop.

-We are commanded to love ALL men.

2014 October Elder Anderson

-Christ was called gluttonous and a wine bibber.

-Joseph Smith was destined to have people rage against him, but wise people to seek blessings after his hand.

Spiritual questions deserve spiritual answers from God.

-People say it’s impossible for angels to appear to Joseph Smith, or for an angel to give gold plates to Joseph Smith containing the Book of Mormon!

-Studying the church through the eyes of it’s defectors is like interviewing Judas to find out more about Jesus. Defectors always tell more about themselves than about the people from whom they have defected.

-To who question about Joseph Smith, we ought ask the people who lived with him, and who gave their lives for his cause. John Taylor for example, who was shot 4 times at the time Joseph Smith was martyred, testified later that Joseph Smith was simply a good man.

-Things on the internet or the news aren’t always true. There have been numerous occasions where blatantly false things have occurred to put down the LDS church.

-Often people use the truth to impose a false impression.

-We don’t say something is true based on things we don’t understand.

-Several men along with Joseph Smith testified that angels did appear to them, giving them work to do for the Savior.

-Millions of LDS live caring for the poor and serving others, and sharing the gospel. Jesus said that a good tree cannot bring forth corrupt fruit, nor vice versa. By their fruits ye shall know them.

-You won’t be of much help to others if your own faith is not in place. Like on a plane in an emergency, you need to adjust your own safety mask before that of others.

-Lies about the character and mission of Joseph Smith will continue to increase. Now is the time to prepare for that.

-Through Joseph Smith, the holy sealing power was restored to the earth. Such is available in temples (that is, marriage that is sealed to last not just till death do you part but forever and ever).

-You may get wet in this water fight, but never let it put out the fire of your faith.

-Find scriptures acknowledging Joseph Smith’s mission, and materials on such.

-Listenning to _____ in your own voice will help you.

-“Dispite what comes, this great work will go forward.” -Thomas S. Monson.

-God chose a righteous man, Joseph Smith, to restore his gospel on the earth.

-Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God.

-Once dead, we will understand the sacred mission of the prophet Joseph Smith.

-In a not too distant day, we shall all know brother Joseph Smith again.

2014 October Elder Ted R. Callister

-Successful people have libraries. They read.

-One parent had her children only watch 3 TV shows a week, and were to read 2 books a week, and to give a report on such. This mother wanted her children to change their lives. One of her children became a world renowned neurosurgeon at age 34. This is because she was a woman who took her duty to teach her children seriously. The children contested her rules but it was to no avail. She was determined.

-It’s up to parents, not church leaders, to be responsible for the teaching of their children.

-One girl who didn’t have the church in her community knew all the answers to gospel questions because her mother taught her.

-Keep in your shirt pocket quotes from scripture and Shakespeare and so forth and have those be discussion at dinner table.

-One 90 year old cooked and took a tray of food out the door. When asked where she was going, she said, to take food to the elderly.

-Ted’s mother when Ted was 12, asked him if he was prayed for the Lord to help him find a good wife as that would be the most important decision in his life he would make. He then prayed for such for the next 6 years.

-Parents, don’t send your children out to battle against Satan in the world without helping them put on the armor on.

-In many cases, gaming monopolizes the lives of our children. There may be complaining but we need to put our foot down. If we don’t do this, who will?

-Do our children get our best, or do our callings and workplace take our best?

-In the next life titles of church callings may not continue with us, but certainly the title of parent or spouse shall survive worlds without end.

2014 October Elder Jorg Klebingat

-On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your confidence before the Lord were you to have a one on one interview with him right now?

-Stop making excuses for why you are not choosing to be obedient.

-God knows weather you’re just choosing not to live the gospel. If so, be honest enough to admit it.

-Control your diet and excursive for physical fitness. Our body and mind are interconnected. Pay special attention to what we eat. Give your body the exercise it needs and deserves.

-Embrace wholehearted obedience in your life. Acknowledge that you can’t disobey God’s commandments and still love God.

-Chosing something bad instead of something extremely bad is still sin.

-You won’t feel good about a bad movie you watch just because it’s not a terrible movie.

-The Atonement of Jesus Christ never runs out.

-Use Christ’s commandments daily like a physicians orders.

-Don’t expect the world to cheer you on as you seek to obey the gospel.

-Voluntarily and joyfully repent of sins constantly, then your confidence before the Lord will be great.

-Forgive everyone for everything all the time. Forgive and forget quickly, and don’t ever think that you are exempt from this commandment. Confidence before the Lord increases as we know that he knows that we have no ill feelings for any person.

-Expect trials to come.

-Some trials just come for the sake of life. Devils say it’s because we sinned, ignore that.

-Often trials come because we are being righteous.

-Constantly putting yourself down is listening to the wrong voice, as if you think you need to do that before someone else beats you to it.

-Be fully clean and acceptable before God all the time.

-The Savior is loving and expects us to live his commandments.

-The Savior rejoices daily seeing that we are facing in the right direction.

2014 October Elder Edwardo Gavarret

-The voice beckoning us to the wrong path and that beckoning us to the right path are very similar in sound at times, but The Lord’s voice cannot be confused.

-The Lord uses verbs in his invitations to us, follow me, walk with me. It’s not a passive thing.

-He said come unto me, and I will give you rest.

-Those of you who are not members of this church will hear the voice of the Savior calling to you by missionaries asking you, “will you read the Book of Mormon? Will you come to church with us? Will you be baptized?” How will you respond today? Yea Lord, I will follow thee.

-The missionaries taught a girl the word of wisdom, which outlaws coffee. The girl said “No more coffee with milk for me mom. Just milk.” She and her whole family were baptized.

-Jesus said follow thou me. Nephi asks, can we follow Christ without being willing to keep the commandments of the Father?

-Missionaries always ask people to follow Christ.

-As you accept the gospel, you’ll experience a powerful inner change that will help you be happier.

-Following, walking with, coming after the Savior, we will loose desire to do evil.

-Feed the desire to be a better follower of Christ.

-Pray for more desire to follow Christ.

-Decide today to say “Yes Lord, I will follow thee.”

-Knowing the truth won’t change our world, but obeying it will.

-May our response to the Savior be loud and clear.

2014 October Elder Holland

-Jesus’ first and foremost Messianic duty was to bless the poor, including the poor in spirit. This is seen as his first Messianic declaration was quoting Isaiah’s prophecy that the Messiah would do such.

-Jesus Christ, the creator of all things, was, at least in his adult life, homeless.

-Join with Christ to lift people from their poverty. Jehovah said he would judge the people harshly because they neglected their poor, “grinding the face of the poor.”

-Scripture says that who won’t care for the needy will cry and not be heard.

-Shall is language God uses when he means business, and he said the poor shall not want.

-Mother Theresa said her work was about love not statistics. She said she could keep the commandment to love God and her neighbor by loving those within her reach.  She said what we do may be like a drop in the ocean but without us it would be one drop less.

-God said he rejoices more in the one who repents than in 100 just persons, so we see God is not preoccupied with percentages.

-Are we not all beggars, who cry out for forgiveness and answers.

-We seek mercy to outweigh justice in at least our case.

-We retain a remission of our sins by attending to the poor.

-the two conditions of being poor of the world and poor of the heart almost always go together.

-Whatever privileges are denied you you can always pray.

-After you have prayed if you don’t help the poor you deny the faith. Your prayer is vain. You are as hypocrites.

-Industry thrift self reliance and ambition are sure; we’re always expected to help others before ourselves.

-God knows how to guide you in passionate discipleship if you’re constantly looking for ways to keep a commandment he has given us again and again.

-All who are physically able are to observe the law of the fast. Part of this entails serving the poor says Isaiah. Spiritual and temporal blessings come to those who live this law.

-Those who find relief at your hand will call your name blessed forever.

-I am my brother’s brother and need help him.

-President Thomas S Monson gives away his extra clothes when he visits poor countries, and even has come back in his house slippers having given the shoes off his feet.

-More than any man Elder Holland knows, President Monson has tried to help the poor and the widows.

-This is the true church of Jesus Christ.

-Do all we can to get people out of the poverty that holds them captive and stops them from fulfilling their dreams.

-Elder Holland is as committed to the principals of welfare self reliance etc. as any other person in the world.

2014 October Elder Perry

-Who we emulate shapes us.

-The only way to find lasting peace is to look to Christ and to worship him.

-Christ was born in a stabble, worked as a carpenter, ministered for three years, then died on a cross. His life was written by ordinary men. He is the Son of God.

-Satan has found all kinds of ways to sow tares among the wheat, even into the sanctity of our own home. Through air, wires, etc. The wheat and tares are grown so close together! The wheat will be so beautiful that the tares will have no appeal.

-Our challenge is on how we will prepare for these events

-Protect the family as the basic unit of society for now and through the eternities.

-As people watch us, let us be certain our example will sustain the Lord’s plan.

-The greatest blessings in all the world come to and are experienced in, righteous families.

-The greatest teaching a child will ever receive will be from their parents.

-Those who make a house a home will make far greater impact on the world than will a business owner etc.

-We can’t begin to measure or calculate the value of a woman who sows good principals.

-The mothers of today have no greater opportunity, no more serious challenge, than to do all they can to strengthen the home.

-The role of fathers is to give blessings to their children, lead the family in prayer, daily family scripture study, family home evenings, planning outings that will involve all family members. These will never be forgotten by their children. Fathers teach their children the value of work, and help them to set goals.

-Being a father is a man’s most important calling, and he is never released from such.

-A successful parent should never bee too busy to capture a moment in a childs life when a lesson can be taught.

-Never have children needed parents more than they do today.

-We have a legacy of people who have given up everything they have to be able to raise their children in a better environment.

2014 October President Eyring

-Good judgement and logical thinking aren’t enough to help us in our most important decisions.

-We need not just one flash of light and comfort, but continuing light from God.

-Young Joseph Smith knew he couldn’t decide which church to join, but he knew that God could guide him in that decision. God called him to lead has church, and enabled thereby the Holy Ghost to be conferred upon people to help them with more deceptions for all who join God’s Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

-Nephi, responding to the prophet’s council (his father), said I’ll go do what the Lord would have me do, not what my father would have me do.

-The revelation of a parent has a lasting effect that continues in the personal revelation as a child, like a daughter who when she moves out on her own, sets a curfew of her own and keeps the Sabbath because her mother had her do so.

-A mother awaiting to speak to a child coming home tardy, prays like a patriarch does before giving a blessing, that her words will reach the heart of who she speaks to.

-Try to go and do as our parents hope we will.

-When you love the prophet you’ll be more able to follow his council, although it be hard to accept oft times. The Adversary tempts us to therefore disbelieve his prophetic calling.

-The father of a family gets revelation for his family, and an individual gets revelation for him/herself.

2014 October Elder Nelson of the 12 Apostles

-President Kimball, then leader of the 12 Apostles, chose to do a medical procedure that his Dr. did not advise because the First Presidency of the church did advise. This shows how much he honored his leaders, the presiding council of the Church.

-If the restoration did anything, it shattered the age old myth that God had stopped talking to his children. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

-The leaders of the Church don’t just come in, they are regularly sustained and recognized by the membership of the church.

-No prophet or leader in this church has ever called themselves, or been elected. The Lord said “Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you and ordained you.”

-Members do not vote for their leaders on any level, but they can sustain them.

-Our sustaining of prophets is our promise that we will do all we can to uphold their decisions.

-Their call to be a prophet is binding upon us as it is upon them.

-Sustaining the prophet means we will stand behind him, pray for him, defend his good name, and carry out his instructions as the Lord shall direct.

-The living Lord leads his living Church through the current prophet.

-Having 12 Apostles and 3 in the Presiding Council make 15 prophets in our day. This is a protection for us, for their decisions must be unanimous. They pray to God, “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

-There are counterbalances in place so that no one man can ever lead the church astray.

-President Hinckley said the leaders of the Church have the duty to expound upon the doctrine of the church.

-Matters of great importance are considered deliberately and carefully by the First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

-Follow the Prophet with consecration.

Carol F. McConkie 1st Councilor in Young Womens General Presidency:

-In the Lord’s true church, there is never but one on earth at a time that has all the keys to guide and direct his church. Today that man is Thomas S. Monson.

-The Lord commands His Church to give heed to all the words of the Prophet, as if from the Lord’s own mouth. If we do such, the gaits of hell will not prevail against us.

-When the Apostles speak, it is scripture, and the power of God unto salvation. Weather it’s spoken by the Lord, or his servants, it is the same.

-The Lord’s house is a house of order, and we need never be deceived about where to look for true doctrine.

-God calls his prophets for the work of the ministry, the edifying of the Saints, and bringing them into one body.

-The Lord’s Prophet Elijah was instructed to ask food from a poor widow. God could have provided food for his prophet by other miraculous means, but he used the widow. It ended up saving the widow of Zeraphath’s life, she receiving more food from having chosen to follow the prophet.

-Following the prophet may be politically incorrect or socially unacceptable, but we trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and lean not on our own understanding.

-Elder McConkie taught that the Lord gives direction to his people in their time of need always. There will come a time when all that can save us are the words of the Prophet.

-We need to study the words of ancient and modern prophets.

-This is how to build on the rock of Christ, and to hence have a sure foundation whereupon we cannot fall.

-those who don’t will be cut off from the Lord’s covenant people according to his word.

-In President Monson, we are lead by a true Prophet today.

2014 October Elder Robert D Hales

-The final words of all LDS prophets illustrate how much Heavenly Father loves his first son Jesus Christ, and how obedient Jesus Christ was to his Father in Heaven.

-Recall the first time you knew there was a God and could feel his love.

-Exploring the beauty of this earth, we see that God loves us.

-Read the scriptures diligently.

-As we read the scriptures and keep the commandments, the Holy Ghost will testify that what we are learning is true. That is how Elder Hales knows that this church is true.

-God the Father and the Son are literally Father and Son. They are separate people. They each have a body.

-there was a life before this one where we lived with God. We call this premortality.

-When Jesus was a young man, he told his mother that he must be about his Father’s business.

-At Jesus’ baptism, God declared “this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”

-Jesus prayed “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”

-Jesus prayed to his Father, “not my will but thine be done.”

-Jesus appeared to Mary Magdelene and said “I ascend to my father and to your father.”

-When Jesus appeared to the people in America in the Book of Mormon ancient record, his Father announced his arrival, “Behold my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

-When Jesus taught he said “This is the doctrine that the Father hath given me.”

-These scriptures show they are individuals, united in purpose, equally dedicated to bring to pass the immortality and Eternal Life of man.

-Jesus is a God, yet distinguishes himself as an individual by praying to and obeying his Father.

-The restoration of the gospel came with 2 glorified beings. Joseph Smith said that “one of them spake to me, calling me by name, and said pointing to the other, this is my beloved Son. Hear him!”

-The restoration of the gospel beginning with this appearance to Joseph Smith is for the purpose of restoring lost knowledge that will lead us to God forever.

-The third member of the Godhead, a personage of spirit we know as the Holy Ghost, is the way that we can know for ourselves that this message is true. See Moroni 10:4-5, about praying with a sincere heart about this in order to know by the power of the Holy Ghost, the truth of all things.

-Our Heavenly Father wants us to seek this knowledge (about weather this church is the true church) now.

-This will help us build our lives upon the teachings of Jesus Christ, and then we will not fall no matter what happens in life.

-Jesus Christ The Savior lives.

-Our Father in Heaven loves us and is watching over us.

-Knowledge of these truths will come to each who go and seek it.

2014 October Elder James J. Hamula of the Seventy

-The sacrament Jesus started is the cessation of animal sacrifice, and beginning of remembering what the animal sacrifice was pointing toward, namely, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the bread and water represent his flesh and blood, which was shed so that we can have Eternal Life.

-When visiting the people in the America’s in the ancient record “The Book of Mormon”, the Lord also taught them to take the sacrament, and commanded them to continue doing such.

-The sacrament ordinance needs to become more sacred and holy to us, for it’s one of the most sacred and holy ordinances in the church.

-We remember Jesus’ body, a body which resisted every temptation. Which was torn by it’s enemies. Which rose from the grave never again to have disease. By taking the bread, we recall that our bodys will also rise from the grace and not experience weakness more.

-Taking the water in the sacrament we remember the agony of Gethsemane, where he spilled his blood taking upon himself the sins of the world,” how sore and exquisite you know not, yea, how hard to bear you know not.” Christ said to Joseph Smith about his suffering in D&C 19.

-By the power of the resurrection, ALL of us will be restored to the presence of God. So the question for us is not weather we will live after death, but who we will live with after death. Not all of us will remain with God after this life.

-Jesus made this perfectly clear- no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God.

-Alma in the Book of Mormon record, said we was so full of sin he wanted to be extinct both soul and body to hide from God.

-Jesus Christ offers to make us clean if we will accept his ordinances beginning with baptism and receiving the Holy Ghost.

-Nothing enters into the rest of the Lord unless they wash their garments in his blood by doing these things.

-We must repent and do these things. This is the doctrine of Christ.

-When we take the sacrament we declare we will always remember his son.

-When we take the sacrament we commit to keep his commandments, that includes repenting, hence if in the prior week we have said things or viewed things that are not worthy of us, by taking the sacrament we commit to STOP, and not do so again in the coming week.

-We must keep the commandments after baptism, including taking the sacrament regularly, and repenting regularly, to be able to live with God. This pattern will enable us to grow like the Savior did, “grace for grace”.

2014 October President Thomas S Monson

-Mortality is a stage. Our home is the place we came from in premortality.

-Purposes of life are to obtain a body, and to obey God.

-God’s great gift to us is our agency.

-Here we learn from the harsh task master of experience.

-Here we learn that decisions determine destiny.

-In premortality we wanted very much to go back to our Father in Heaven.

-He did not send us here without tools and guidance.

-Strive to do all in our power to endure the the end and obtain Eternal Life.

-Jesus Christ is the perfect example to follow.

-Jesus said “that which ye have seen me do, that shall ye do also.”

-Jesus said “what manner of men ought ye to be? Veryily I say unto you, even as I am.”

-Follow in Jesus Christ’s path, and we can live with him forever.

-Nephi the prophet said unless we follow Jesus Christ we cannot be saved.

-Walking where Jesus walked is less important than walking AS he walked.

-Come follow me means live Jesus’ teachings.

-Jesus went through many of the same challenges we do in life, like disappointment, as seen in his lament over Jerusalem as they had rejected him.

-Jerusalem killed the prophets, and Jesus would have gathered them but they would not.

-Jesus did not succumb as Satan tempted him. He said “Get thee hence Satan!”

-The path of disappointment and temptation will be to each of us as well.

-Were it not so that Satan tempts us, we could not be free to choose for ourselves.

-In the midst of our sorrow, we can also find great happiness.

-As Samuel the prophet said, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

-Jesus Christ healed the sick.

-He taught us how to pray with “The Lord’s Prayer” and his prayer in Gethsemane.

-Sermon on the mount teaches us to stand up for what we believe even though we may be persecuted and ridiculed.

-Jesus teaches us to improve ourselves and strive for perfection.

-Jesus teaches us to seek the lost sheep.

-Learning of Jesus’ teachings lead us to Eternal Life. There is no higher end than this.

-No other choice we can make can make us what he can.

-Those who are not blessed with children may be Christlike by nurturing all who come into their home.

-Those with little money can be like Christ by sharing all they have.

-the home of the faithful is a heaven on earth. A spirit of goodness radiates therein.

-“Ponder the path of thy feet.” This inspires us to put ourselves where Jesus is.

-The path of Jesus Christ will take us safely home.

Song: have done with lesser things; serve the King of Kings; we are brothers of the Son of God.

2014 October Elder Quinton L. Cook

-Lucy in Peanuts dropping the ball rationalized her dropping the ball; we can’t rationalize not serving Jesus.

-We need unequivocal commitment to keeping the commandments.

-When we do things that get in the way of full time missions and temple marriage, those things can be particularly harmful.

-Some of us profess wanting to marry in the temple, but don’t date temple worthy women, or date at all.

-Neglecting to learn to work hard, read the Book of Mormon, do well in school and seminary, are contrary to mission preparation.

-Beware seemingly ordinary everyday situations where we need moderation balance and especially wisdom.

-with the internet we can get caught up in endless triviality which waste our time and demean out potential.

-in the media they present obsessive games as normal but it’s not.

-in media portray not just the smiles but the sorrows.

-pretending to be happier than we are makes us more sad.

-there is very little on social media that will assist us in our quest toward eternal goals

-ask, will this make you a better person?

-don’t be obsessed with every new thing.

-basic values have diminished, and along with them overall happiness on earth.

-see Elder Oak’s message on good better best.

-what absorbs all our time becomes insidious if it detracts us from the best goals.

-our daily conduct and choices should be consistent with our goals and covenants.

-We must not drop the ball of covenants for any reason.

-There is a seriousness of purpose that must accompany our approach to life.

-When things diminish Christ’s church and commandments they are tragic.

-Being valiant in the testimony of Jesus is the great divide in the difference between the Celestial and Terrestrial kingdoms. We want to be on the right side of that divide.

2014 October Elder Craig C. Christiensen

-You can know for yourself that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true.

-Leaning on the testimonies of others will only take us so far.

-Like the stripling warriors in the Book of Mormon, you can start by relying on your parents’ testimonies. They said “we do not doubt that our mothers knew it.”

-Alma knew for himself the gospel was true by way of the witness of the Holy Ghost. He prayed and fasted much for that witness. See Alma 5.

-Nephi, though very young, wanted to know the truth. He wanted to know what his father the prophet knew, and he received a glorious witness of the birth of the Son of God by a virgin mother, The Saviors sacrifice, etc.

-Joseph Smith applied what he read in the scirptues about asking to know for yourself to find the truth, and hence look at all the good that has come from that.

-A witness of the truth is the calm assurance we receive as we live the gospel and study it.

-A testimony is not like a light switch, have it or you don’t; rather it’s like a tree that goes through various stages, like a redwood tree which grows from a tiny seed.

-Often a testimony begins with feelings that what we are hearing may be true. Don’t ignore or neglect these early spiritual promptings. We must continue to study and pray and seek more, or our feelings will fade and diminish.

-Read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it is true. You’ll get a witness that it is. It follows that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that the church has been restored by him in these last days, and along with the the power of the Priesthood.

-Today is the day to learn for ourselves or to reaffirm that this is true.

-We must have the faith of scripture characters in order to develop our own testimonies.

-Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. Joseph Smith is the prophet of the restoration, including the restoration of Priesthood authority on earth. This knowledge may come to us just like it has to Thomas S. Monson and myself.

2014 October Dean M. Davies, Second Councilor of the Presiding Bishopric

-The church teaches us how to respond to temporal emergency.

-Resources to help members rebuild their homes doesn’t come free, they must develop skills, and help others to rebuild their homes. This helped them also to get employment in the future.

-“The poor shall never cease out of the land there fore thou shalt open thy hand wide to the poor and the needy in thy land” said Jehovah.

-Individual church members need to personally care for the poor and needy not just church government action.

-We fast for 24 hours (once a month), then give an offering of money to the church which goes toward caring to the needy.

-heath as the morning, glory of the Lord as thy rearward, will cry to the Lord and he will say here I am. These are blessings of fasting that Jehovah taught via the prophet Isaiah.

-There will be judgements poured out without mixture upon the whole earth Jesus Christ said in the D&C about a day soon to come.

-The amount of money we are to give at the fasts need not be excess of what we would expect to spend for the cost of those means skipped.

-Begin family fasts with a family prayer, thanking the Lord for what he has given us. When we fast it’s a family matter. Do it as a family.

-fast offerings are intended to support life not lifestyle

-Caring for the poor and needy has the power to bless hearts that are otherwise hard.

-Caring for the poor and needy is inherent in the ministry of the Savior; it’s in everything he does.

-Faithfully keep the law of the fast and give a generous fast offering; this is a sign of spiritual maturity, and brings great blessings.

2014 October President Uchdorf

-When Christ said one of you will betray me, they didn’t look at Judas and say is it him? Or would we like those disciples of old would we look inward and ask those penetrating questions, is it I?

-This leads to personal conversion and lasting change.

-One man had a spotless yard except for one dandelion in the middle. Another had hundreds of dandelions, but was driveen crazy by why his neighbor with the perfect yard didn’t pluck the one from his yard.

-At times it’s amazing how unaware we can be at our own incompetence.

-those who do poorest on the test often think they are doing the best.

-successful people often overestimate their own contribution and underestimating that of others.

-we blind ourselves to blessings and opportunities that could help us improve when we think we are doing better than we are.

-sometimes wards that appear perfect have many divorces, many things going wrong. Some appear to live the gospel but inside they have moved away from the gospel and it’s teachings.

-some men say the gospel is good for women and children but not for them.

-we live in a day of narcissism, and it’s easy in our day to make excuses for not regularly studying the scriptures attending church meetings or having prayer. Ask yourselves, “Lord, is it I?”

-have you allowed the god of this world (Lucifer) to darken your minds to the glorious light of Christ?

-ask yourselves, where is my treasure?

-are you devoting sufficient time and energy to bringing happiness to your family?

-admit our faults, and God will make us instruments in his hand to bring many souls unto him.

-oft we look through our lives through the filter of excuses and justification.

-being able to see ourselves clearly is essential to our spiritual welfare and wellbeing.

-if we can’t see our weaknesses, we can’t be healed, nor get to the divine potential God wants to nourish in each of us.

– scriptures an effective mirror to hold up for effective self examination. Ignore feelings of what others do and ask self “Lord, is it I?”

-Commit to live the life Heavenly Father intends for you.

-Who try to be like Jesus and humble themselves as a little child will experience the miracles of the Savior’s Atonement.

-indescribable joy is the fruit of the meek and the humble of heart.

-I’m more impressed by souls who are truly good and without guile than by those who are educated and successful and applauded by men.

-“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.”  Humble yourself before God and he will lift you up.

-When God responds yes to our asking if it is us, accept this answer humbly then change our ways be becoming better members of our family.

-Seeing ourselves clearly is the beginning of wisdom. Then we will be made strong and blessed from on high.

President Eyring, First Councilor in the First Presidency:

-The preparation in the Aaronic Priesthood for the Melchizedik Priesthood is glorious.

-In Eternal Life we may live forever in families with God the Father and his son Jesus Christ.

-Death comes upon all. This life is the probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God.

-Leaders in the church do all they can to help us prepare to see God.

-Bishops can take time out of their lives to teach the Priest quorum themselves.

-Bishops can have carefully typed notes and well worn scriptures.

-Bishops can call their Priest quorum councilors and ask them to accompany them as partners.

-Bishops can show their Priest companions in the scriptures why they treat the widows as people who can care for themselves and will eventually care for others.

-Visits are good, as children will never forget that we came.

-Senior companion of hometeaching companionship uses careful prior study to determine the status of who they will go see.

-Senior hometeaching companion oft steps back and lets the Jr. companion teach, and call them to repentance at times.

-more powerful than our teaching the doctrine will be our example of living the doctrine.

-seeing what our leaders do motivates us to action.

-In Priesthood action, show me counts for more than tell me.

-When Joseph Smith was in the jail cell, and told that he was watched over and cared for, it must have been a cold cell.

-Fathers ask their sons for advice of things distpite their advanced experience.

-help others even when Dr.’s say the person is going to die

-Reprove at times with sharpness then show increased love; this means love was already there. They must have felt your praise before they will accept your correction.

-Teachers and Priests (young and old) pray with each other over their mandate to watch over the church, person by person.

2014 October President Thomas S. Monson

-Like a ship, we need anchors in our lives. We need moral principals of what we will and won’t do.

-Men cannot bestow upon machines the power of judgement. This is a divine gift humans have from God.

-Our purpose is to sail an undeviating course to our desired goal, the Celestial Kingdom of God.

-God provides a clear map, and points the way toward our desired destination, and causions us to avoid the traps.

-There are clever pipped pipers who say come here or there to sin, but instead, WE GO TO PRAYER.

-There are those who will not obey and prefer to make their own way. Too often they succumb to the enticements to what is around us which is bad.

-Sophestries of men ring in our ears. We should listen to what our Father in Heaven has for us.

-Wherever we go, our Priesthood goes with us. Don’t stand in unholy places. Pause to consider the consequences.

-perosnal purity is what makes us examples for others to follow.

-We should let our lights shine.

-We can help to illuminate an increasingly dark world.

-Nothing will bring greater joy and success than to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Be an example. Be an influence for good.

-Every one of us has been foreordained to some work to act in the name of God.

-people are looking to you for leadership.

-Our influence, for good or bad, will be felt for generations to come.

-Cain was powerful of potential but weak in will. He committed greed envy then even murder.

-When Daniel was templed with great wealth and political power in reward for doing the things of the world, he said keep thy rewards to thyself. He would not do it.

-Daniel was taken out of the Lions den and no hurt came upon him “because he believed in God” the passage says.

Song: Oh Babylon, oh Babylon, we bid thee farewell! We’re going to the mountains of Ephraim to dwell!

Sunday Afternoon Session:

Song: Lo, a mighty angel of God descends!

2014 October Elder Ballard

-boats rules are stay in the boat, wear life vest, hold on with both hands, and above all recall to stay in the boat.

-who leave this church are like a person who jumps off a boat after taking off their life jackets; they drown. This is a quote from President Brigham Young.

-song of redeeming love need be able to sing always.

-the leaders of the church will not and can not lead the church astray. Stay away from who thinks they can run the church better than the leaders of the church can.

-Who leave the church experience unintended short and long term consequences which effect their lives, and the lives of their families.

-The Apostles aren’t out of touch with our lives.

-stay focused

-love all, feast on scriptures, endure to the end => Eternal Life.

-Satan attempts to distract us from focusing on the gospel; he wants us to get preoccupied by less important teachings.

-if any of you have fallen out of the boat we will find and rescue you

-God and our Savior Jesus Christ are at the helm of the boat.

2014 October Elder Richard G. Scott

-the choice of Adam and Eve made it possible for all of us to come to this world to be tried and tested.

-the test of agency is that we are accountable for our feelings.

-the Fall made possible both feelings of happiness and sadness.

-Heavenly Father knew the Fall would occur and prepared a way through the life of his perfect Son for our salvation.

-we must take time to excursive our faith. then the power of Father in Heaven comes into our lives.

-tools of the gospel once fundamental habits, become best ways to discover peace in our lives.

-tell God everything that is important to you, your full range of experiences.

-we aren’t forced to pray, but as we do, we feel peace.

-parents arm your family with the power of daily family prayer.

-Family prayer should be a non-negociable priority in your daily life.

-Satan lies to you saying that you don’t have time to study the scriptures. Choose to take time to study them.

-Studying the scriptures is more important than school studies, sleep, social media, sports, everything.

-If you need to reprioratize to be able to study the scriptures daily, DO IT.

-Peace will prevail in your life as you do this.

-Peace won’t come from the outside world, but from your heart, from your home, from the Spirit.

-Monday night Family Home Evening be a last though effort in the day

-Choose to be together as a family Monday evenings

-Don’t let work extra caricular activities or sports get in the way of weekly FHE.

-Testimony of the gospel and teachings there of should be born formally and informally during FHE.

-learn planning skills in FHE.

-talk to each other during FHE, and have a MARVELOUS time together.

-scripture study, prayer, and FHE are the very things that bring us peace in life, don’t let them be stresses, they are peace makers.

-set a regular time to be in the temple and don’t let ANYTHING in the way of that time.

-many more blessings come from providing your own family names in the temple than doing names they have prepared.

-don’t expect these things to take away all our difficulties, those difficulties are part of the very reason that we are here on earth.

Carlos A Godoy:

-Oft errors come from only a few degrees.

-Our chooses make a big difference in our lives.

-things may seem good in our lives, but if we continue to live in the way that we are, will the blessings in our Patriarchial Blessing be fulfilled?

-pondering may result in choices of best rather than better.

-Make decisions with the end in mind.

-Look at what our future would be like if we did certain things.

-Moses meeting with God helped him to understand his role. This helped him to endure many years in the desert and lead his people home.

-Use the temple to consider with decisions.

-The best paths in life are rarely the easiest, often they are the hardest.

-Moses Lehi and Joseph Smith did not have easy lives dispute their correct decisions.

-We need to be willing to get out of our comfort zones.

-Regardles of age or opportunity we have the ability to learn about the gospel and other topics; live to get the fullest potential extent of that.

plan things out with your wife so you can do your great plans together powerfully.

Allen Packer of the Seventy:

-Focus on all requirements for eternal life not just one or two of the requirements.

-Entering the kingdom of Heaven is like going to another country, we need to qualify for a spiritual visa or passport.

-The Church helps but cannot do it for it. This is the quest of a lifetime.

-Doing temple work is required, it is not optional.

-The book of life? is composed of the names in our family tree research

-Family History also includes the present as we make our own present, and includes the future as we teach our children of our ancestors.

-Parents who teach their children of their ancestors are doing family history work.

-This work can and should be done by all members of any age.

-We now have the doctrines, temples, and technology to do this work. It’s easier now dispute it’s difficultly.

-This requires a little time on a consistent basis. Such will yield the joy of this work.

-Ask others to help you, they will.

-There needs to be a change in our priorities. Don’t fight the change. It’s part of the plan of Happiness.

-This work need not be done for the sake of the church, but for the sake of ourselves and our ancestors.

-Simply find a name, take it to the temple. Then begin to help others to do it.

-Doing this will protect you from the intensifying work of the adversary.

-It’s time to take the cover off our hatchets and go to work. Don’t sacrifice the salvation of our families for less important works.

2014 October Hugo E. Martinez of the Seventy

-He who serves in something is good for something, he who serves in no thing is good for nothing.

-The Savior focuses on the individual and the family.

-See that every individual is strengthened by the gospel.

-If you labor all your days and bring only one soul to God, your joy will be great.

-We are the children of God and have the potential to become like him.

-The teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ show us the way.

-Our personal ministry begins with discovering needs, then tending to them.

-Sister Burton said “First observe, then serve.”

-President Monson saw one standing alone and went to them. Turns out they were hoping to give him a letter they thought it would be impossible seeing how busy he is, but here he was, answering their prayer. He promised them he would attend to the matter contained in the letter.

-People saw some with children who needed clean drinking water and gave it to them, answering their prayers.

-People who serve provide what we need to reach our divine potential.

-Serving others is integral to keeping our baptismal covenants.

-Serving others is our best introduction letter to who we will share the gospel with.

-We can serve the dead by doing ordinances for them in the temple that they did not have the opportunity for in premortality.

-We can keep family records and journals to turn hearts to eachtother as well.

-Linking peoples’ hearts together is the work of being Saviors on Mt. Zion (as referenced in the bible).

-God will gather his people from all nations as a shepherd divides the sheep from the goats. He will set the sheep on his right hand and the goats on the left. He will tell those on the right to come to him because they served him according to his needs of food etc.

Song: “I am a child of God”

-Celestial glory shall be mine if I can but endure. I am a child of God.

2014 October Larry S. Kacher of the Seventy

-what we learn in life effects us greatly.

-Sometimes divine intervention helps us in our lives.

-There is opposition in all things, and hence we need to act for ourselves, and not give our agency to others.

-We are little children and know not all things, we need to choose to stay in the church; accept the simple truths of the gospel. There is room for honest inquiry; see Joseph Smith praying for what church to join, hold the D&C in your hand, and you’ll see that most of it is from the questions Joseph Smith had and asked.

-The question is not weather there is room for sincere inquiry, but where we will turn for guidance. Turn to the Lord. The scriptures testify that he does not walk in crooked paths, or vary from that which he has said.

-When we have questions about Heavenly Father’s teachings, don’t rely on secular answers, or the pride of men. You’ll be cut off, and not find truth, but rather only loose your testimony.

-Our examples matter, for our children follow.

-Are my decisions planted firmly in the rich soil of the gospel of Jesus Christ?

-The covenants we make are sacred and holy. We must never trifle with sacred things.

2014 October Elder David A. Bednar

-To people who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

-Why are LDS so eager to tell me more about their church?

-Devoted disciples of Jesus Christ always have been and always will be valiant missionaries.

-A missionary is someone who follows Jesus Christ and testifies of him.

-Christ said to go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them all things I’ve commanded you.

-LDS take seriously this call.

-We believe that the original church of Jesus Christ has been restored today.

-When we invite you to church or to meet with missionaries we aren’t trying to sell you anything, we don’t get perks, we aren’t merely trying to add numbers to this church, and most importantly we aren’t trying to coerse you to believe as we do, rather we are trying to share with you these things so you can try them out for yourself and ponder about them.

-Bring all that you know is true good and praiseworthy, and test our message.

-Just as Jesus beckoned two disciples to come and see, so we invite you to see if what we have to share enlarges what you have.

-We are carrying this message to all the world according to the commandment with over 88 thousand full time missionaries in over 150 countries around the world.

-We want to share this message not merely out of duty, but it’s a reflection of how important these truths are to us.

-Children immediately and intuitively want to give to others even as they’ve received.

-Adults act the same way. When they find a medication which alleviates them from a long time pain, for find a teaching that answers a long time had question, they are likely to share it freely and without coercion.

-1 Nephi 8: Lehi sees the fruit of the tree of life is the sweetest fruit he has ever had and the brightest,  he wants to give it to his family. This is symbolic of the ministry and sacrifice of Christ.

-As he turned to Christ, he also turned to his family to share what he found with them.

-Enos in the Book of Mormon: as he turned to the Lord will full purpose of heart, his desire for the welfare of his family and people increased simultaneously.

-Wanting to share the gospel is result of experience that goes far beyond merely going through the motions.

-We experience guidance that is only obtained by living and learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

-The gospel brings healing sav, and protection for good times, and bad.

-Absolute truth exists in a world that dismisses absolute truths.

-In a future day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Christ. All will admit that Heavenly Father is His Father.

-Our desire to share the gospel comes from the good experience we have had with this church.

-We may be abrupt akward or relentless at times, but this is out of desire to share truths that have blessed our lives.

-As an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, I (Elder Bednar) invite you to come and see.

2014 October President Thomas S. Monson

-The contribution of people in the work of the Lord is enormous and will be felt for generations.

-May the words of this conference make us a little better.

-Some struggle every day with challenges. Extend to them our concern as well as a helping hand.

-Remember the elderly and the homebound. Visiting them will help them to remember that they are valued.

-Try to do the right thing at all times and in all circumstances.

-Try to follow Jesus Christ in examples of righteousness, and thus become light unto the world.

2015 April President Eyring

-when we do nice things for others, Jesus feels it as though we did it to him

-fasting brings strength to resist Satans tempting us to use power incorrectly

-failing to fast for the poor is a sin of omission with heavy cost.

-when we give fast offerings it brings relief to people which the Lord will feel as though it were relief coming to him.

-the homes of those who give fast offerings even though they are very poor are holy ground

-our fasting and prayers lead to the blessing to another person

-if we live the commands and fasting often enough, it will bring the great promised blessings to us of being able to resist Satan.

2015 April President Boyd K. Packer

-says the great adventure of his life began when he married

-the end purpose of the Church is to seal couples in the temple for time and all eternity

-by using the power of procreation we gain a fullness of joy and the status of godhood. It is the plan and the key of happiness.

-our eternity depends on how we respond to the desire to mate

mature love has a bliss not experienced by young couples. They can grow stronger together dispute trials.

-the ideal way of the timing when the procreative powers should be used is after a temple marriage.

-marriage lasts eternally only when covenants in the temple are made and kept. Then you will have a fullness of glory, and continuation of the seeds forever and ever.

romantic love is not enough for a marriage

-there are physical and spiritual laws to obey if we are to be happy

-the laws about creating life are irrevocably decreed in heaven

-spiritual laws define the moral standards for mankind

-covenants safeguard eternal blessings

-bridle your passions means restrain them until it’s the right time to use them

Satan constantly is tempting us for he is jealous that he cannot have posterity like we can.

-our misuse of our bodies for pleasure will bring us more pain than any pleasure in the world could bring us

-we cannot escape the consequences when we transgress

-authorization of use of creative powers is only for legally married persons between a man and a woman anything outside of these parameters is a violation to the commandments of God.

our bodies show scars from major illness, but our spirits are different, when we repent, because of Jesus Christ, there is no scar. They are entirely forgotten by God.

-Gods mercy is without limit

-God compensates us for our losses more than we can imagine in time

-temple sealing is much more than a marriage, for there we are promised thrones, kingdoms, principalities and dominions. This is a supernal gift.

-the greatest gift we can receive in this life and in the life to come is our children and our grandchildren

-by the Atonement and the Priesthood, families began on earth may continue in eternity.

-no matter what we have done or where we have been, if we repent, we have no spiritual scars.

-escape guilt by accepting the Atonement of Christ and all that hurts can return to love.

-the Atonement can wash clean every stain no matter how deep

-no matter how bad you are the Atonement can make you good and put you on the right path to eternal happiness

put the Atonement to work, and you, like God, will remember your sins mo more

2015 April Sis. Linda Burton RS Gen Pres

-Pres. Packer said he is obligated by his calling to tell the truth about his wife, and then reported that his wife is perfect.

-husbands provide for their families and preside over them

-the times when a husband is most attractive to his wife is when he is serving in his God given roles as a man husband and father

-men can do SO much for the salvation and exaltation of their families says Pres. Benson

satan can never become a husband or father, and out of this envy he tries to make everyone miserable.

-like two hands opposite of each other but working together, so are man and woman married. They complete each other.

-rejoice in others’ successes not just our own

-focus on family time rather than to do lists

-don’t speak bad about your husband in front of your children or others

-sincerely praise your marriage companion alone and in front of chidden

-stop when you see you’ll say something offensive

-choose to be happy rather than to be right sometimes in arguments

-feeling in your spirit pain, it’s a warning sign to help you not get hurt further by correcting your ways

-try to be perfect in at least this one way- by using the tongue of angels to always speak kind words

-lift each other in marriage, and you ascend together

-Jesus enables us to be successful in having happy marriages if we apply unto his Atonement

2015 April Elder Dallin H. Oaks

-not all instruction is given in Gen Conf, but the spirit instructs you to do things you must to

-Gen Conf talks are assigned not by man but by God by means of the spirit

-some of the Saivors teachings we reject like the seed that falls into stoney ground

-we who are committed to following Christ are expected to harvest good works

-being a member just because of the good fruits of the Church isn’t enough to keep us alive spiritually

-even long time Church members can fall away not being rooted in it’s teachings. Anyone can have a stoney heart without this.

-spiritual food is needed for spiritual survival exp. in a world that is moving away from God and understanding of what is right and wrong

-today there is more internet and exposed to more evil, so we need to give more time to spiritual influence also

-if you do anything but pay attention when the sacrament is passed, you are cutting off your roots and will wither away and die spiritually

-Pres Hinckley calls those who get angry about politics pickle suckers.

-no matter where we are in progression in this life, we are all tempted by money. The theology of prosperity is the deceitfulness of riches, it’s false doctrine

-Jesus said the man give all to the poor, Jesus didn’t condemn money but the attitude the man had towards it. The root of evil is not money but the love of money.

-those with much money are in danger of spiritually being sedated

-savoring the things of men rather than those of god is offensive to God. We must put God first.

-being addicted surrenders the pleasures of this life

-we are robbed of pleasure when we are distracted by unimportant things

-we are robbed of pleasure when we have an entitlement attitude

Oaks’ teacher Hugh Nibley said or test is supposed to be impractical in the terms of this world that is the test in the Church that has always been the issue. It is not supposed to be easy. These he said about how people go to riches with their heart but they should not.

-in our Church, political choices, business dealings, treatment of the poor, everything, we need to live what we believe.

be a leaven in society, not digested by society

-it’s our duty to set the priorities of what will make our harvest good

2015 April Elder Whitney Clayton

-go towards light when we are lost

-as we go towards the light in the distance we go through much rough terrain

-seeing the light in the distance is the source of hope that enables us to press on through the trials

-no matter the situation, if we search for it, there is always a light.. That light is Jesus Christ.

-we can see spiritual light only if we desire to believe.

-we must make personal choice and action we can’t sit on the fence

-only those who seek will find. The seeking precedes the finding

-the test of our lifetimes is the test of the day to day.

-if we refuse to follow the Savior, we choose to walk in the darkness.

-when in a bag situation, we can’t just sit there, we must go somewhere, up a hill, find the light.

-even when you don’t know what the light is that you follow, just keep following it and you’ll find out.

The Savior is a divine reality we must open our hearts to if we are to find that light.

-God doesn’t force us to believe. Instead he invites us to believe by sending prophets who extend us his invitations

-the deception to believe is the most important deception we ever make it shapes all the other choices

-belief and testimony don’t just happen to us. We won’t accidentally find a testimony any more than accidentally paying our tithing.

-even crawl if you have to. Just don’t stay where you are. Get up and find the light. The light is Jesus Christ.

-we are choosing to believe when we pray read scripture fast go to Church repent etc.

-never give up even when our progress seems slow. Even our best efforts to find the Savior can seem to not be working, just never give up.

-you can overcome your doubt.

-Jesus stands ready to receive you

-the choose to believe in Jesus Christ is the best choice you will ever make, looking back you’ll see that.

-there is a limitless potential for happiness for those who follow Jesus Christ

2015 April Elder L Tom Perry

-6/7 continents went the Vatican to speak of marriage

-more and more people are giving up on marriage as a public commitment

-the neglect of morals in society hurts the poor

be revolutionaries with the courage to seek truth against the common pattern

-religious leaders agree entirely on the sanctity of the institution of marriage and that family is the central unit of society

-a Muslim scholar quoted 2 paragraphs verbatim of our Proclamation to the Family in the Vatican marriage conference attended by religious world leaders everywhere.

-all religious people support marriage between a man and a woman.

-marriage between a man and a wife is beautiful

the LDS Church is unique because only we have he eternal perspective of the restored gospel. What that brings to the discussion of marriage and family is so large and relevant that it can’t be overstated. We take the sanctity of marriage to a greater level for we believe that families go back before this earth was and that they will go on into the eternities.

we sing “families can be together forever through Heavenly Fathers plan I want to be with my family forever for the Lord has shown me how I can.”

-we believe in pre mortal life where w lived as children of God our Eternal Father. we believe we were and are still members of his eternal family.

-marriages done in temples continue to be valid in the world to come.

-our marriages don’t say “till death do you part” but rather say “through all time and eternity”

-the values in the LDS Church are the basic values of eternity

-we want to be leaders in the world so we can have a bigger voice for the family lifestyle

-family life style is the most sensible and economic way to live and the happiest

-have your house full of children

-no one has ever come up with a better way to raise the generation than married man and woman.

-even the millennials, those young growing up now, still want to have children and the create families.

-once we are married and have children, the true commonality among mankind becomes even more evident.

-people are not better off when the are given the max personal freedom to do what they want, but when they have much commitment

-so much of what the media says doesn’t relay what the masses believe in. They present the minority as masquerading as the majority.

-people say recreational sex is okay and they make others feel they are in the minority. These are lies. The solid majority of mankind still believes that marriage should be between one man and one woman to care for each other in sickness and health till death do we part.

-it’s never been more of a challenge to find a balance between work and family etc. The Church is trying to help strengthen the family.

-the Church shares its genealogical records with all people around the world.

marriage and family really do matter and they always will. The restored gospel centers on marriage and families.

-it’s around marriage and families where we find the greatest commonalities with the rest of the world.

–it’s within marriage and family that the LDS Church has the best opportunity to be a light to the world.

-family is the center of life and the key to eternal happiness.

2015 April Elder David A. Bednar

-we live in the day in the scriptures which say the whole earth is in commotion

-one of the first effects of the fall was for Adam to experience fear (“I was afraid and hid myself” said he)

-Alma didn’t hush the fears of his people, but he taught them of the Lord, and with that knowledge they were able to hush their own fears.

-walk in the meekness of the spirit of Christ and you’ll have peace in Him

-Christ helps us hope for the Resurrection and Eternal Life.

-Christ helps us become good in ways that we could never accomplish with our limited mortal capacity

-the doctrine of Christ gives us direction in ALL aspects of our lives

-the Priesthood of Christ ensures that things that matter most can last through time and all eternity

-see that ye look to God and live. Fix your sight on the Savior at all times and at all places.

ordinances and covenants are the building blocks we use to build our lives on Christ and His Atonement.

honoring our covenants is the source of stability in life’s every season

-spiritual understanding and vision, persistence and patience and God’s grace are what enable us to endure faithfully

-learning and living of the gospel and making covenants enable us to chase fear out of our lives

-Godly fear is a source of peace assurance and confidence

-righteous fear is a deep feeling of reverence respect and awe for the Lord Jesus Christ, obedience to his commandments, anticipation of the final judgement, and justice from his hand. All will be accountable for their own sins at judgement days. This fear is how we get a strong confidence and a fountain of life.

-we can’t have Godly fear unless we understand the judgement at the last day and that we must answer to how we have lived

-when we see God we will have no excuse, and see all our rationalizations and pretenses and false ideas.

-keeping God’s commandments and fearing him is the WHOLE duty of man.

-Godly fear dispels mortal fears.

-Godly fear dispels the feeling that we will never measure up. It brings us to rely on Christ not only ourselves.

-As we fear God more completely we love him more perfectly and perfect love casteth out all fear

2015 April Elder Christofferson

-marriage is more than love for each other.

-marriage is a link in the chain of generations.

-marriage is a post of responsibility towards the world and mankind

-marriage is something more than personal, it’s a status and office

-like how a crown isn’t just what defines a king, neither does just love define a marriage

-Heavenly Father caused us to become spirit beings, and sending us to earth is how he gave us the opportunity to perfect that being.

-keeping the 2nd Estate entails keeping all of God’s commandments

-we are tested in this earth to see if we can be trusted to create life.

-the promise of a glorified body is one of the reasons we shouted for joy at the chance to come to earth. The glorified body is the reward for proper execution of duty in this life.

-physical death is needed in this life so that we won’t live forever in our sins

-for us to get exalted like God, which is what he is trying to do with us, it’s essential that we bare children and lead those children to a hope in Christ.

-parents are to teach the gospel to their children freely, about the need to be born again into the kingdom of heaven

-for eternity to happen we need to be physically born and to be spiritually born again

-marriage between man and a woman is the best way for the plan of God to be carried out.

-marriage has never been just about the love of adults.

-neglecting the family brings the plagues foreseen by ancient and modern prophets

-male and female carry the divine image, but it’s when male and female marry that they attain the most complete meaning of what it means to be created in the image of God.

-Lucifer fights to stop marriage and family and tear them apart. He attacks all things sacred about human sexuality, and pours immoral thoughts to people. He is a rebel and grows in power.

-Lucifer is pleased when parents neglect to teach their children about being born again into the kingdom of God

many things (which parents can teach) are important, but only a few are essential.

-despite our limitations, all people can contribute to good in each generation. Less than ideal circumstances although we have, we can make things work with it.

no one is predestined to receive less than all the father has.

-stand with God in promoting the exaltation of his children

-these sure promises will bring happiness

-even if same sex attraction is keeping us from marriage, we can participate in promoting family by helping others.

2015 April Elder Wilford Anderson

-I can teach you to dance, but you have to hear the music

-it’s hard to dance without music

-in our homes we must teach both the dance of the gospel and the music of the gospel

-we learn the dance with our minds, but hear the music with our hearts

-the dance is what we do, the music is what we feel

-the joy of the dance is only had when we hear the music

-people ridicule church members, but that’s only natural, people without music see dance as strange

-with dance but no music, people loose the desire to dance

-teach the music by first staying in touch with it yourself

-tuning into the right music station requires repentance

-there will be no need for compulsion when we have our spirits right

-babies get pure love, babies who won’t sleep get long suffering from us, teens who rebel get persuasion and long-suffering from us.

-dissonance in the home is like darkness in the room. Scolding the darkness does no good, only bringing light can end darkness.

-if you’re not hearing the music of the gospel in your home, KEEP PRACTICING.

-the day will come when our homes are filled with the sweet music of Christ

-even having the music won’t solve all problems, but our problems will have sweet serenades in them, and knowledge will flow to us, and our domino will become permanent and voluntary.

2015 April Elder Dale Renlund

-2013 Nelson Mandela died.  He was first democratically elected President of South Africa. He forgave those who hurt him. He would say I’m no saint unless such is a sinner who keeps on trying.

-we aren’t perfect, but our doctrine is that we can become perfect. We can become increasingly like Christ.

-God cares a lot more about who we are and who we are becoming than what we were.

-Shakespeare has a play with a brother who tries to kill his little brother, the little brother saves his older brothers life anyway. This changed the life of the older brother. He says “twas I, but tis not I”. He changed, and it’s no longer him. But he would admit it was him before knowing that it was no longer him.

-no sins that we have repented of will be mentioned in judgement day

-it’s not the Holy Ghost who tells us we are so far gone that we might as well give up

-if you’ve been hurt by someone, remember the Savior knows perfectly what it’s like to have been hurt by others.

-no matter what, God expects his Latter-day Saints to keep on trying.

when blacks are mistreated by whites, even inside the Church, remember the Church is like a big hospital and we are all sick in our own way. We come to Church to be helped. So be tolerant kind patient supportive and understanding while others work through their sicknesses.

-when we think about how it’s hard to help others who seem unmotivated, remember that compared to God, us and the person who seems unmotivated aren’t that different when compared to God.

-not motivating others we are hypocrites

-keep on trying or we are quitters

-keep on repenting or we are sinners

2015 April Elder Michael Ringwood

-Pres. Uchdorf is more impressed by people that are truly good and without guile than the great think tanks of the world applauded by men.

-do what’s right for right’s sake rather than for praise or authority

-sacrifice your time talent and effort to help and lift others

-great women and men are always more anxious to serve than to have dominion said Pres. Kimball

-don’t be influenced by power and position, be influenced by good.

-go above and beyond in fulfilling callings

-even more impressive than magnifying your calling is finding ways to help in which you aren’t necessarily called

-there are always members who always seem to know who needs help and how to offer it

-missionaries should be out when they are supposed to, etc.

-effectiveness as a missionary has nothing to do with the titles you are asked to have during your mission

-seminary teaches who are always prepared can have a powerful influence on others. They visit their students outside of class in their times of need

-Sunday school teachers should not only teach their students at Church, but invite them for breakfast and time them on other occasions

-don’t just send Christmas cards, but had deliver them to those who need a visit.

-disciples of Christ go about doing good continually

-some don’t attend Church when released from a calling or feel overlooked for a title. But service to God is recognized only by God.

-the desires of our hearts can be transformed. Our motives can be educated and refined.

-in our covenant relationship with God, he succors us so that we can go succor others.

-those who live good lives help us to know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

2015 April Elder Quinton L Cook

-many feel life is unfair from all the evil in earth. but this CAN’T stop us from celebrating Jesus Christ whom literally overcame death, and took upon him our transgressions and redeems all who will believe on his name. We can’t even comprehend all the grace he has for us.

-sun flowers grow in inhospitable locations. It follows the sun across the sky to get energy. This is like following the Savior of the World, the Son of God, our light and life.

-those who offend and do iniquity will be gathered out of Gods kingdom

-those who do good, their light will shine as the sun says the parable of the wheat and the tares Jesus taught.

-the family is to help us learn correct principals in a loving atmosphere

-who die in Christ won’t taste of death, but death will be sweet to them

-have regular Priesthood blessings, family home evenings, family prayer and family scripture study, and our children will be ready to go to heaven.

-family deceptions are made jointly by the husband and wife after seeking guidance from God.

-so much in life is extraneous, but the family is the real thing, the thing that is eternal, the thing to look to and care for.

-God extends ordinances of exaltation to all who will accept them

-our Church wards are geographical, we don’t discriminate cultures.

-4th Nephi tells of the essential Church culture: people being converted, all cultures alike, and no fighting, and just dealings with each other. They were the happiest of all people created by God.

-not having contention is a result of having the love of God in ones soul. We aspire for this culture.

-families must relish and protect traditions that protect faith

-our scripture declares that all people will hear the gospel in their own tongue, so we try to learn languages.

-members pray to God in the language of their native tongue, the language of their heart.

-esteem every person as yourself or you are not one and not the Lords’.

-be careful to not be judgmental or critical about those who have trouble building their faith

-speak to Church leaders to help you overcome your doubts.

-The Church has never been stronger.

-when your life seems unbearable, think of the wrenching pain Jesus went through in the Atonement.

-Jesus did the Atonement because he loves us and he loves and obeys his father.

refuge from the storm of life today will come from our covenants.

“I know He (Jesus Christ) lives. I know His voice.”

2015 April Elder M Russel Ballard

-in many ways the world today is more challenging than the world was 13 years ago since there are many more things that will distract young men and women from going on missions and temple marriage.

-an Apostle assigns the mission to each missionary it’s like we are in the room with them

-what we need now is the greatest generation of young adults and missionaries the Church has ever had.

avoid video games which can dull your spiritual sensitivity

-avoid snap chat and tender images which would cause you to be embarrassed should the Savior see you

-preparation for life continues even after your mission- be anxiously engaged, do much good of your own free will. Use your mission skills to bless others. Don’t focus exclusively on school or work, but continue to serve others. Remember how you visited people in their homes, and never forget to visit people in their homes who are lonely, not just on assignment but from genuine love.

-include a class in religion each semester if you go to a Church school

-never think you are too busy to study the gospel

-seminary and institute of religion classes  give balance to your life and help you to study the scriptures and the teachings of the living prophets

-look into the new religion courses offered at BYU

-brethren, set down your cell phone and look around at the institute and you’ll perhaps find your eternal companion to marry.

-be anxiously engaged in dating

-don’t text the girl you date, use your own voice. To hear a human voice will shock her perhaps even into saying yes.

stop putting off marriage (he said this very bluntly)

-Jesus has experienced our dashed hopes and tragedies

-Jesus’ death was one final act of love for us

-Jesus commissioned everyone to teach faith in Christ, repentance, baptism, and the reception of the Holy Ghost for the remission of sins.

-We know God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith

-Church leaders are counting on every young adult to prepare to marry serve and lead in the days ahead.

2015 April Elder Ulises Soares

-none no matter the age is exempt from exposure to the things that threaten to destroy us.

-the devil is trying to distract us from covenants we have made with the Lord to get us to loose our inheritance. They know the Lord’s plan for they were with us in heaven before this life when the plan was presented to us.

-Moroni had courage to defend the truth in a time of many wars

-everyone should be like Moroni, if so, the devil would have no power over humans.

-ALL of us need become modern captain Moroni’s.

-even at a young age of 12 your faith can be tested daily.

-people must choose between popularity and righteousness

-tell your friends who are in pornography that it’s wrong that you’ll become a slave of it if you continue. Though many think it’s ok and a part of life, some may listen to you. You may be mocked and persecuted for this, but they were coming out from the wicked, being separate from them, and touching not unclean things.

-you are responsible for the choices you make even if your family and friends use their agency in ways that are not right.

-Satan and his angels try to shroud and control our thoughts, but they only have power over us if we allow it.

-often peoples arguments are just ways to try and justify sin, but remember, all will answer to God at the judgement bar. We can do what’s right if we seek the Lord and trust in him.

-without a sincere heart, we can’t find the truth. With a sincere heart, the Holy Ghost shows us the truth of all things.

-our testimony will shield us from the fiery darts of the adversary.

-when missionaries try to prove things to people the Spirit of God leaves. Rather, focus on teaching the truths of the gospel. When you bear sincere testimony it fills the room with Gods spirit and there is no room for debate.

-the adversary seeks to sift us as wheat causing us to loose our influence

-the world is getting harder to live in, come closer to the Savior.

-rather than fall in battle, you can come to the Savior, and rally others to that standard also.

-align your faith with what is in the scriptures.

-Priesthood holders who do as they should help to illuminate an increasingly dark world.

-Be of good cheer, Jesus Christ has overcome the world.

2015 April Elder Larry Gibson

-a silver dollar can be modified to make a mirror. Look in a mirror and focus on the silver and all you see is yourself.

-our eternal destiny is Eternal Fatherhood

-let all our decisions be made hinged on the goal of becoming an eternal Father.

-when young men go on large hikes, it builds their character and helps them be able to do hard things in the future.

-a young boy after a hike with his dad said “That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done I’ll never do it again unless my son wants me to.” he had the vision of becoming a father.

-the scripture of how the son can do nothing but what he gets strength and vision from the father helps us see how important it is to be a father.

-everything you do as a dad is how your children will learn how to do it.

-do your sons see you striving to do what your Heavenly Father would have you do? You must repent if not so, and begin today.

-it’s your duty and obligation to serve a mission you young men. Then get married and have a family without waiting too long thereafter.

-the purpose of men is to prepare to be an eternal father.

-children without a father present, support your mother with priesthood strength

-Father in Heaven has brought you here to earth at this particular time to fulfill a particular purpose. He is your father and you can always turn to him for guidance.

-The Holy Ghost is to be a guide to our eternal destination if we will let it.

2015 April President Dieter Uchtdorf

-don’t try to make other believe we are better than we are.

-it’s fine to look nice and impress others, but taken to an extreme it’s deceitful. God says don’t just honor him with the mouth but the heart.

-Satan had compassion on those with sincere hearts, but rose up against the hypocrites.

-don’t try to appear prosperous when you’re not

-don’t try to impress others of your discipleship for personal gain, there is pharacie territory.

-don’t set stake goals that are merely fancy words and for percentages and numbers.

-will your stake goals make a difference in the lives of your members?

-don’t let the sick and the needy pass by you and notice them not.

-Your goals may not always be measurable like testimony love of God and compassion for others.

-many of the things you can count don’t count

-our goals shouldn’t be showy, but rather should address real needs

-The Savior sitting with you for an accounting would not focus on programs, but on how our heart is, how we lightened the daily load of those around us. He wants to know about how we are drawing closer to him and Heavenly Father.

-attend your meetings because you desire with all your heart to follow Jesus Christ, your Master. And because you hunger for Gods word though his ordained servants. And to become a better man and how to more effectively administer to those in need. It’s because we love our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.

-make sacrifices and not just declarations to follow the Savior.

-you can build on whatever strength you have, that’s the good news.

-we need apply gospel principals daily.

-most bon fires begin with a simple spark

-if you feel simple and weak, just come unto Christ who makes weak things strong.

-God reached me (Pres. Uchdorf) from a little German camp, he can reach anywhere.

-God can make you the genuine being of light and truth you desire to be.

-live true principals in your families, and you’ll reach the land where you’ll hunger no more, where the Lamb of God in the midst of the throne will feed us, and wipe all tears from our eyes.

-we can’t hide behind organizations. We need to be genuine in our behavior.

-don’t put yourself as a showroom for others to admire you, rather set up a service station where people can come to be repaired, maintained, and rehabilitated.

-we come to Church not to hide our problems but to heal them.

-feed God’s flock without constraint on others.

-most of the service Jesus rendered was private

-it’s a far greater honor to be a humble disciple than to be recognized for all you do.

-as you serve, you go towards your most noble self.

-serving in wards and stakes causes you to focus on others and not yourself.

2015 April President Henry B. Eyring

-When inspired by God, Priesthood holders can speak and act in the name of God.

-we say it’s easy to get inspiration, that we can come up with it when called to, or some future time.

-the need to know what God would say and do has already come to you no matter where you are in the Priesthood.

-when people chase us off of their doors, even if it would offend them, say nice to meet you, thank you for what you have done, I’ll see you next month. Then you won’t leave the door with sorrow, but with confidence that you have done God’s will, and will hear God say, “well done”.

-we need not weary God with long prayers, but go before him often to witness that we remember him always, then go obey Him.

-what pray for? That God may recognize you, and hear your prayers.

-when we pray, we are attempting to get the undecided attention of God.

-it’s easier to feel reverent with kneeling or bowing your head, but even in silent prayer you can, and you’ll often need to do that in your Priesthood duties.

-you must learn to drown out the noise of what’s around you, for you’ll have to pray silently at times.

-go to the homes of the members of the Church and see to it that they pray and do family duties

-human judgement and intenisons aren’t enough to serve those we are called to serve, for we know them not well, etc. We must pray for what to do.

-when you pray, you always plead with God for his spirit, you’ll need it as often as you can get it.

Priesthood holders are direct targets of Satan whom tries to take them down.

-As a Priesthood holder, you are to raise the voice of warning for the Lord. But you need to heed it yourself first.

-studying the words of the prophets will enable you to have the Holy Ghost show you the right way.

-not mere casual reading the scriptures will get you the spiritual strength you need.

-pray for blessings upon many people. For the Spirit to be on the leaders of the Church.

-the salutation “well done thou good and faithful servant” when one has gone on to the spirit world may come to some who were not expecting it. It’s not about office held or time spent serving that matters. You’ll be rewarded for HOW you served.

-ask the Bishop what we can do to help him

only the Holy Ghost can inspire us to discern the needs of others when our loads are so heavy.

-simply ask in humility for what God would have us say, do it, and repeat.

-God hears our every prayer.

-He blessed a child almost dead that the child would live, for such did the spirit tell him to say, and the Dr. in the room immediately snorted at him and told him to get out of the way. The child did live although the Dr. said the child would die in a few hours.

2015 April President Thomas S. Monson

-Come all ye sons of God who have received the Priesthood. Consider your duty for God.

-teach of the Priesthood being restored

-keep the Church records you’re called to keep the very best you can

-in any position you EVER hold, do the best you can in it. That has always been Pres. Monson’s approach.

-the callings you are ordained to are sacred.

-strive to recognize opportunities to do your calling.

-wax strong in the truth and become a man of understanding by much scripture study prayer fasting. These cause you to teach, and that with power.

-one great leader had President Monson when he was an 18 year old man for a long interview where they would search the scriptures together. One hour was considered not enough time for the interview. It was one of becoming a Melchizedek Priesthood holder.

Aaronic Priesthood holders have the right to the ministering of angels.

-Pres. Monson had to give his buddy a Priesthood blessing without ever having received or given one to a sick person.

-He blessed a sick man who immediately recovered.

-to be worthy before God we must have charity towards everyone

-our captain is Jesus Christ the King of Glory the Son of God this is His Church.

In 2014, 15373337 members; 296800 converts baptized; 3 temples dedicated; 144 temples operating.

2015 April President Thomas S. Monson

-the building of temples is a very clear indication that the Church is growing.

-entering the temple we leave behind the distractions of the world and get rest to our souls and a feeling of peace which will transcend any other feeling when we come to the temple. Then we see what the Savior meant when he said “peace I leave with you.”

-going to the temples and remembering the covenants we have made there will help us to endure our trials

-one boy prayed for comfort about going to his mission. In the temple a man that had served in that very mission came and spoke to him and comforted him. God answered his prayer and sent that man to speak to him.

-temple covenants cause married man and woman to be reunited after death

-offer prayers of gratitude for what Jesus Christ has done for us.

2015 April Rosemary M. Wixon Primary General President

-the Lord can only teach an inquiring mind.

-as the questions grow harder, so do the answers

-at times there is no answers we can find, or no answers that comfort us.

-while people struggle to find answers in life, just love them.

-Church isn’t a place of putting on a perfect face, but a place of helping each other

-our grandparents who have died help us find answers and suggest to us to hold to what we know first and foremost.

-read mother Theresa’s book. She lived her religion without having understanding of all things. She focused on what she did know.

-even when all you have left of your testimony is Jesus Christ, he won’t leave you in the hard times.

-scripture study becomes more important than ever as we are in times of struggle with questions

-ask yourself what you want for your children

-the desire for your children to have temple marriages can be what brings you back into the faith

–as we learn about Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon helps us to feel deep appreciation for the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

-believe that God has all power and that man can’t comprehend all things that God can.

-we can get back to the essence of the gospel and feel clarity by reading the primary children’s songbook

-hold fast to what you already know and stay strong until more answers come.

-our faith can reach beyond the current limits of reason.

-we are all pilgrims seeking Gods light as we travel on the path of discipleship. We don’t mock others for the amount of light they do or don’t have.

-we may wonder if Heavenly Father is really there we will find He is.

-answers come as we align our will with God’s will

-truth is on the earth, it is found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

2015 April Jose A Teixeira of the Seventy

-seeking the Lord and feeling his presence is a daily quest.

-today we have more resources than ever to deepen our understanding of Jesus Christ and his Atonement

-the more we understand Jesus Christ’s Atonement, the more we will understand our purpose in life

-the purpose in life is to have joy but we will still suffer. We can have joy through hard times.

-without Christ, we can’t to anything

-go about each day with more enthusiasm and commitment to keep God’s commandments

-don’t put off what we can do

-labor while it is called today

-network life can give precedence to relationships with people we don’t know rather than people we live with, our own family.

-choices we make with our time on line can determine our desire to have faith and our desire to make the world a better place

-visit the Church’s official websites for resources so we may always be sensitive of the teachings of the gospel

-subscribe to the Churches official social networks so we will have brought to us more of Christ’s teachings and have more desire for the gospel and remember what Christ expects of us.

-make time to set aside your mobile devices, your electronic devices, and turn turn physical paper pages of the scriptures, and have time to converse with others. This will enrich and broaden your life. Life is not confined to a 4 inch screen.

-when we abide in the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ by keeping their commandments we get peace

2015 April Gerald Causse First Councilor Presiding Bishopric

-sometimes when we have wonders constantly before our eyes we see but not really; or we hear but not really listen; Jesus reminded us of this, that many longed to see what we see.

-the prophets of old saw the Restoration as a marvelous work and a wonder; never before have so many missionaries been preaching the gospel and so many missions been established around the world

-to wonder at the gospel is a sign of faith; it’s to recognize the Lord in all aspects of our lives.  This helps us be engaged in the work of salvation.

-with time we get less astonished at the wonders of the gospel we have seen but we must keep the gospel wonderful to us.

-everyone must continue to rediscover. It’s not about new landscapes, but about having new eyes.

-can you recall the last time a scripture spoke to you, or when a sweet influence came over you and you realized it was the Holy Ghost?

-scripture study should be based on search study pondering and prayer

-there is always something new for us in every Church meeting and every verse of scripture so always go to Church and study the scriptures.

-several men walked 300 miles by foot for 2 weeks so they could attend a conference in Africa and bring the tithes of the members and take the sacrament. Then they would walk home with boxes of copies of the Book of Mormon on their heads to the people.

-if our car were broken would we stay home from Church because it’s far or raining? Everyone should consider these questions.

-when the spirit is with us our spiritual senses are sharpened and we can’t forget our spiritual experiences. Hence Jesus gave the Holy Ghost as he left the people so they would not forget. They knew that although they had felt the wounds in Christ’s hands, their faith would dwindle if they didn’t have the Holy Ghost.

-we get the Holy Ghost by obedience to God’s commandments

-Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father united in purpose and gave us the perfect gift

2015 April Brent H Nielson of the Seventy

-eat with sinners

-Jesus’ parables about lost things are about one precious son lost.

-the father of the prodigal lovingly lets his adult son go as such is his choice. This after having done all he can to persuade him to stay but he respected the adults wish.

-when trying to bring people back into the Church pushes them away, figuratively let them go, but with letting them know that you love them

-always put the name of the lost one on the prayer roll at the temple

-never loose hope on them.

-invite the lost one to activities and celebrations of the family

-help them know they are loved and part of the family

-be there at their successes

-though we cannot embrace all their choices, we can embrace them.

-when you feel inspired to invite the lost one to watch General Conference, do it.

-the lost ones don’t know they are lost until they see the contrast between the dark of the world and the light of what their families offer.

-although there are difficult consequences to leaving the Church, it can be as they return as though they had never left.

-when we have done all we can we watch pray and wait for the Lord’s hand to be revealed.

-rereading the scriptures we see them in a new light

-all of us can relate to the prodigal son, that we all need the Saviors love and Atonement.

-all people are on the same path back home to God.

-Heavenly Father is a father who waits and watches for us and runs to us and kisses us as we return to him.

2015 April Elder Holland of the 12 Apostles

-easter is the most sacred day of the year

-Jesus reached into the abyss of death to save us from certain spiritual death.

-in our increasingly secular society it is uncommon and unfashionable to speak of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden, but we can’t understand the Atonement of or birth of or death of Jesus Christ without understanding that there was an actual Adam and Eve who fell from an actual Eden. They lived in a setting without human death or future family. They transgressed a commandment of God which required them to leave the presence of God, but allowed them to have children before physical death. We are born into this fallen world, and we also transgress the laws of God, and are hence sentenced to the same penalties that Adam and Eve faced. The entire human race in free fall, tumbling toward permanent death and eternal anguish. This is not what life is supposed to be. We are not just in some cold indifferent universe with nothing to grip, nothing to hold or nothing to hold on to us. Is life just to leap as high as we can, to life for 70 years then die and keep falling forever? The answer is an unequivocal and eternal NO. With prophets ancient and modern I (Elder Holland) testify that all things have been done in the wisdom of God, and that God anticipated the fall of Adam, and sent angels to teach that a Savior would come, he being another Adam, who would come to atone for the transgression for the transgression of the first Adam. This buys unconditional life to all who have been born via the resurrection, and mercifully it allows redemption to all who will repent of their sins. Jesus of Nazareth was and is that Savior of the World. the last Adam. The author and finisher of our faith. the Alpha and Omega. As in Adam all die, in Christ, all will be made alive. Christ redeems us from the fall. Book of Mormon prophet Jacob taught most thoroughly on this, that this reception must come my reason of the fall. Easter we celebrate the victory over ever fall we have ever known, ever fear we have ever faced, and resurrection from death, and forgiveness from death. It happened on an easter over 2000 years ago. It began in Gethsemane, continued on the cross at Calvary, then concluded in  a morning when a perfect holy man did who no other man could or will be able to do on his own, he rose from the dead. He took off the burial clothing. This is the most pure manifestation ever to be demonstrated in this world. He Jesus Christ the Only Begotten son of God died and rose from death so he could, like lightning in a summer storm, grasp us. By obedience to His commandments, Jesus Christ lifts us to Eternal Life. Jesus still stands triumphant over death although he stands on wounded feet. He still extends unending grace, but does so with pierced palms and scarred wrists. Thank Jesus Christ and the Father whom gave him to us of these things. The tomb was gloriously empty. Who complete redemption’s grand design where justice love and mercy meet in harmony divine. In the sacred name of the Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, amen.

2015 April President Uchtdorf 2nd Councilor in the First Presidency

-on the day of Jesus Christ’s Atonement, the destiny of all of God’s children including me and you changed. on that day Jesus took the chains of sin and death that held us captive, burst those chains and set us free. Hence Satan as NO lasting power, and death has no sting, and we receive lasting hope through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

-Why not speak of the Atonement of Christ and attain a perfect knowledge of Him?

-as we preach of Christ at every opportunity never loose sight of the awe and sacredness and holiness of this great sacrifice of Jesus Christ which brings salvation to all who believe in His name.

-it’s a marvel that Jesus Christ descended to save us however imperfect we are.

-the grace of God is how we grow from the flawed and limited beings we are now into exalted beings of light whom know all things.

-we should know about God’s grace if we are to inherit what is prepared for us in his eternal kingdom.

-grace unlocks heavens gates and open heavens windows.

-no unclean thing can enter God’s kingdom. All of us have called short, dispute how much we do.

-Jesus’ sacrifice allows us to have faith unto repentance

-our sins though scarlet, can be as white as snow.

-God doesn’t just want us to be without error, but he wants us to become like Him. Grace doesn’t lead us backward, but upward.

-with grace, all is ours and we are Christ’s.

-to inherit God’s glory, we need not just an open door, but to enter in that door with a change in us very dramatic.

-another element of God’s grace is that he opens the windows of heaven enabling us to get the abilities that we could not get on our own.

-we can all by the grace of God overcome our weaknesses if we have faith.

-God gives us physical and spiritual gifts to enrich our lives and enable us to succeed

-are we like Simon, confident in our own righteousness, trusting we get ourselves into heaven, being impatient with others, “yawning during gospel class or checking our cell phones during sacrament meeting”, or are we like the women, that when we pray it’s not to replay our greatest acts but to confess our faults.

-heaven is purchased by the Son of God.

-we can’t think that after paying rent for a home that we own all the earth, or a plane ticket and think that we own the airline.

-we obey the commandments of God out of love for Him.

-trying to understand God’s grace gives us all the more reason to want to obey God. This helps us become like God and leads us to His presence.

-The Spirit of God brings such a change in us that we have no more disposition to do evil but to do good continually.

-our works merge with Gods grace and cause our confidence to wax strong in the presence of God.

-living the gospel is not a burden but a joyful rehearsal preparing to inherit the eternities.  New vistas are exposed to us which we never knew existed.

-we labor diligently to persuade our brethren and children to believe in Christ and be reconciled to God for we believe it’s by grace we are saved after al we can do.

-we aren’t saved because of all we can do. None have done all they can do. God doesn’t wait until we’ve made every effort to extend his grace.

-many are discouraged at falling short, and their souls grieve because of their iniquities.

-all we can do means repenting. That is the task of mortality.

-today and always, Gods grace is available for who have broken hearts and contrite spirits

-God will help us go places we never even knew existed

-show love for God by keeping his commandments and joyfully walking in a newness of life.

2015 April Elder Robert D. Hales of the 12 Apostles

-as people respond to our message and reject it, remember God deems that all should be able to choose for themselves.

-when people turn from God, it’s of their own choosing.

-the way we use our agency determines weather we will learn who we are

-all on earth are here for we chose to follow Jesus Christ in the pre-mortal existence. Now in this life, whoever you are, you can choose again to follow Jesus Christ.

-where the Lord is, there is liberty. Satan doesn’t want us to have this freedom. He attempted to destroy this freedom in heaven and now he fiercely continues.

-4 cornerstones of religious freedom are freedom to believe (no on should criticize persecute or attack an individual for what he or she believes about God. Neither should governments. It’s very personal and important.

-government is to control crime but never suppress the soul or conscious.

-2nd cornerstone of religious liberty is that we can share our faith with others. We are to teach our children in our homes, and to preach the gospel all around the world.

-3rd cornerstone of religious freedom is freedom to form a religious institution where you can worship with others. Let all people worship how where and what they may.

-4th cornerstone of religious freedom is the freedom to live our faith not just in the home and chapel but also in public places. God commands that we pray not only in private, but to so good works before men.

lack of respect for religion is quickly evolving to persecution.

-more pressure is coming at us to compromise our religion and bow to secular standards.

-we have a responsibility to raise our voices for what is right.

-Joseph Smith said he is just as ready to die defending a good man of any religion as he is for a Mormon, for the same principal which would trample the rights of a Catholic would trample that of Catholic or any minority not strong enough to represent itself.

-be aware of the issues in your community which have an impact on religious liberty

-join with others who want to protect religious freedom

-be a good example about how you live your religion which is more important than what you say about it

-our Saviors Second Coming is drawing nearer, let us not rely standing up for our religion.

-come running together with a covenant to uphold the Church

-“Brothers and Sisters, don’t walk, run.”

-may we freely choose to follow Jesus Christ today and always.

2015 April Kevin W. Pearson of the Seventy

-why is it a struggle to be faithful? Lukewarm faith weakens faith.

-Jesus Christ is the clear manifestation of the love of God

-if we don’t enter into covenants with God, in the end we will have completely and utterly missed the mark.

-Study the Book of Mormon “everyday everyday everyday”

-truth is not posted at hashtags, only the Savior has the words of eternal life, all the rest is just words.

-the great and spacious building has people who seem to have everything, but they mock the Savior and those who follow him. Although these people may be politically correct, they are spiritually lost.

-Return Missionaries can’t play excess video games and expect to keep the spirit

-if you loose the spirit, you are lost.

-there are serious spiritual consequences for return missionaries who take virtue lightly

average commitment will prevent you from enduring to the end.

-those who hold fast to and hearken to the word of God will never perish

-enduring to the end is the great test of discipleship.

2015 April Rafael E. Pino

-Heavenly Father taught Adam and Eve the plan of redemption before the commandments. This plan helps people to have motivation to keep the commandments.

-one thing in common with faithful members is their perspective about the plan of salvation

-appreciating the gospel in life is like standing in a forest in front of a tree, you need to step back to be able  to understand what it is.

things that look unpleasant at first, when understood what they are, they become very attractive.

-don’t be concerned with each puzzle piece individually, but the whole puzzle. God knows where each piece goes. All of the commandments are extremely important.

-don’t make eternal choices with mortal perspective.

-faith keeps us anxiously engaged in good causes even when they appear to be losing causes.

-faith can make women strong like unto men

-when people murmur against God it’s because they don’t know or regard the dealings of God.

-perspective allows us to have greater vision about what we can accomplish.

-God sees what we can accomplish and it’s not our job to council him. He has a plan for our eternal happiness.

2015 April Elder Neal L. Anderson of the 12 Apostles

-we are a large body of believers who pledge to follow Christ weekly, we are not perfect but we don’t take our faith lightly.

-we live in a day preceding the Lord’s second Coning a day long awaited by believers.

-it’s a day of much war but also the gospel is being taken to all the world in a time the Lord promised to raise up a pure people and arm them with the power of God.

-difficulties of some are more than those of others but no one is immune

-if everything is going perfectly for you now just wait

-keep an eternal perspective even in the midst of trials.

-seeing the Lord’s miracles as he establishes his Church on earth helps us see that he is making miracles in our life as well.

-God is able to do his own work. He, Jesus Christ, created the earth.

-there are only few members of the Church compared to the rest of the world, they are spread throughout the world.

-in Bangkok, Christians are only 1% of this Buddhist land. God is putting a temple there now for he has gathered some of his elect on this earth there.

-30 years ago the Ivory Coast started holding Sunday meetings there in Africa, now there are 8 stakes there and a temple going up.

-in nothing doth men offend God save those who confess not his hand in all things.

-if you want to see God’s work spreading, look around you.

-Heavenly Father knows all, not even a sparrow falls without him knowing about it.

-keep the commandments and pray in faith to see the Lords hand in your life and I (Elder Anderson) promise that your spiritual eyes will be opened even wider and you’ll see his hand even more.

-pray for Jesus Christ to return to earth, his kingdom to come, and his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

-the return of Jesus Christ will exceed anything mortal eyes have ever experienced. He will come in the clouds of heaven clothed with power and great glory with all the angels. We will hear the trumpet of the archangel. Saints all over the earth will be caught up to meet him in the midst of heaven. All flesh will see him together, exactly as prophets have said it will. All the ends of the earth shall hear his voice. The voice of many waters and great thunder are his. The Lord will stand in the midst of his own people. There will be unforgettable reunions between man and angels. All the earth shall see the salvation of God. In that day, the sceptic shall be silent, for every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world the Son of God.

-today easter, we rejoice in the Saviors resurrection, and in OUR RESURRECTION TO COME.

2015 April Jorge F Zeballos

-as members of the Church we have responsibility to seek our own salvation and that of our fellow men.

-seeking our salvation means seeking the highest degree of glory available

-this priority should direct our daily choices

-those who don’t peruse this receive damnation

-men cannot be content with mediocrity when they see excellence is within their reach. We know exaltation is within our reach and need live up to that.

-learn your duty, accept it and live it.

-desire to do the right isn’t enough if we don’t know what it is or if we aren’t willing to do it.

-the path to happiness and life is narrow, and few there be that find it. It takes effort.

-The Holy Ghost shows us what we are to do.

-prophets ancient and modern show us the way, in combination with the Holy Ghost.

-a person’s word ought be sufficient to establish commitment

-Jesus healing people before he was on the cross was him giving unequivocal commitment that he would do what he promised he would (The Atonement).

-Forgive others even when we don’t understand everything.

-it’s essential that we develop the ability to accept God’s will even when it’s not our will however good.

-the leper came to Jesus and didn’t demand to be healed, but he said “if thou wilt thou canst make me clean”- he wanted the Father’s will

-if your child dies, have the faith to give that child to God whom gave him.

tell your child the things that Jesus would tell were he here.

-develop your divine attributes to reach your divine potential.

-we bare more fruit for the Lord by yielding to the Holy Ghost and being meek and lowly of heart.

-invite your friends and neighbors to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

-be a witness of the goodness of God in all places times and things you may be in even until death.

-the body is the means by which we may attain our divine potential.

-marriage between a man and a woman is the fulfillment of the institution God set up for the commandment to us to multiply

-marriage between man and a woman gives children the ideal in preparing for living life.

-those who struggle with marriage if faithful will in time have God’s blessings

-don’t put off marriage and family for worldly per suits

-who keep their covenants have the promise that the adversary will never have power to end their marriage.

-subduing the earth includes that we get power over our bodies and use them for the things of God.

-with faith in Christ we have power to do what ever is expedient in him that we do.

-see the gifts of the spirit

-develop our talents

-every family has trials and challenges but if they look to the Lord they will get help and not be overwhelmed by those things

-the evils on earth are because people have turned to flesh rather than the Lord walking after their own God whose image is in the likeness of the world.

-enticings of evil which would put is in bondage can be handled with Christ’s power.

-we can actually grow to become like God

-Thomas S Monson holds the keys to do the Lords work today

2015 April Elder Russel M Nelson of the 12 Apostles

-examine your Sabbath day observance

-is the Sabbath a delight like the Lord says?

-on Sunday we rest from our work

-The Sabbath made for man and not man for the Sabbath means it is God’s gift to us wherein we rest from labors of the week and so we can renew our spirits.

-Sabbath is not for pleasure.

-The Sabbath is a perpetual covenant, a constant reminder that the Lord may sanctify his people.

-on the Sabbath we take the sacrament covenanting that we are willing to take upon us the name of Christ

-Christ declared himself as Lord of the Sabbath- it is HIS day.

-our conduct and attitude about he Sabbath constitutes a sign between us and God.

-when wondering what to do on the Sabbath ask what sign we want to give to God. That makes our decisions crystal clear.

-going to Church on Sunday keeps us more unspotted from the world.

-Sunday is for resting from your labors and paying your devotion to the most high.

-on the Sabbath prepare food with singleness of hearth that your joy may be full

-if you do these things on the Sabbath, then the FULLNESS OF THE EARTH WILL BE YOURS.

-no wonder Isaiah called the Sabbath “a delight”

-strengthen families on the Sabbath

-God wants his children to return to him as sealed spouses in the temple

-on the Sabbath teach the gospel on the Sabbath. teach repentance faith in Christ baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands by the time they are 8 years old, or the sin is upon the head of the parents.

-devote your best efforts to the teaching your children the gospel

-no place can take place of the home in teaching children the gospel

-give highest priority to family prayer and scripture study and family home evenings. Never allow other activities get in the way of these.

-parents have more resources to make the Sabbath meaningful than other generations have ever had with websites of The Church and magazines of The Church.

-no other work transcends that of righteous parenting

-teaching the gospel causes you to learn more, that’s how he helps us learn it. “teach ye diligently that you may be instructed more perfectly” in doctrine and all things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

-we must teach our family the gospel no matter it’s size

-do family history work and it can bring immense joy.

-determine to do family history research, and slowly you’ll learn how easy this is and you’ll never be happier.

-the dead are yearning for ordinances we can perform for them in temples. Lifting their spirits will lift yours as well.

-turn away from your pleasure on God’s holy Day. Honor the Lord. Don’t do your own ways, or speak your own words. Then the Sabbath will bring you delight.

-it takes SELF DISCIPLINE to keep your words as God’s words on his day the Sabbath.

-don’t do routine and recreational activities, those can be done on a day other than the Sabbath.

-the Sabbath is a tithing to the Lord, it’s our duty, hence, to give him our money and time.

-observing the Sabbath causes us to get faith in God.

-true believers keep the Sabbath day holy.

-be perfected in Christ by coming to Him. Deny your self ungodliness and you’ll be sanctified in Christ.

2015 October President Uchtdorf Second Councilor of the First Presidency

-Pray for the new Apostles

-we are proned to believe big things not little things

-at times we set aside what we have experienced or know to be true in pursuit of more mysterious information of little substance

-ask yourself if you believe in God, are you happy, do you believe God hears your prayers, are your efforts leading you to your highest spiritual goals?

-members ask: Is your experience with the Church working for you, bringing your family blessings?

-focus our efforts with the divine plan of salvation

-he meets many whose lives are immeasurable blessed by the Church and the restored gospel, but others not. It saddens him for he knows how the gospel can renew the spirit, and fill our hearts and minds with light. It can transform lives into extra ordinary and sublime.

-what is the difference between the members who are filled with joy and others who feel something is lacking? 1. are we making our discipleship too complicated? We cover up the simple gospel with our own ides often. This can be like putting dirt over a flower burying it. Leaders must keep the Church and gospel plain without putting unnecessary burdens on the members. Members need devote their time to what truly matters, while uplifting others, building God’s kingdom. Living the gospel need not be complicated. Hearing God’s word leads us to trust his promises. Hence we love him. Hence we choose to follow him according to his word. Hence we want serve him and bless the poor and needy. This is the path of discipleship. It causes us to want to learn Gods word the more we live it.  Focus on the basic doctrines principals and applications of the gospel and it will defiantly work better for you.

  1. start where you are. Don’t feel bad for not being “more” something. It’s natural and right to desire growth, but we can use our weaknesses to come to Christ. Satan uses our weaknesses to persuade us to not try.As you are right now, God will take you and work with you. You only need desire to believe and trust in the Lord.Saul was of one of the smallest tribes of Israel yet God saw a great king in him. Moses wanted to give up and die at one point but went on. God sees us according to truth, which is that we are his children with divine destiny. The Saviors sacrifice opened the door for all to return to God. His power allows access to God’s kingdoms of God. From The Savior all go to a kingdom of glory, even the lowest kingdom surpasses all understanding and many people will be there, but the Savirors grace can do even more, exaltation, life in God’s presence, receiving all the Father hath. Exaltation is our goal. Discipleship is our journey.

-exercise a little faith and begin to walk with Christ, God will help you become something greater than YOU EVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE. We will be able to say being a member works wonderfully thank you for asking would you like to learn more?

2015 October Elder Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-The old ship Zion is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stay on it. God is at the helm and will stay there. Never forsake your covenants nor your God and he will guide you right.

-Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have given clear and simple truths to keep us aright.

-a few of these include Gods chosen prophets who show us how to make it safe through mortality. He has witnesses the Apostles act as moved upon by the Holy Ghost, perfectly dedicated to doing God’s work. God leads his Church via his Apostles and Prophets.  The Savior taught that who receive his servants receive him. We cannot separate Christ from his servants. Without them we would have no bible witness of Christ, nor witness of the empty tomb and resurrection. He commanded them to teach and baptize all, and to have everyone do as he taught. This is renewed in our day when he called Joseph Smith to declare his gospel one last time before he will come again.  It’s always been a challenge for the world to accept living Prophets and Apostles but it’s essential to receive the blessings of the Priesthood. Leaders need not be perfect for Gods grace is sufficient to accomplish his work through mere mortals.  Looking for weakness in others is easy but it’s a huge mistake to fail to see God’s hand working through those he has called.

-another way to stay on the ship is the doctrine of the plan of salvation. Via Joseph smith the prophet God gave us the Book of Mormon the Doctrine and Covenants and other revelations showing a map of who we are where we came from and where we go when we die. It brings unique perspective that we are God’s children. Knowing our relationship to God and Christ causes us to make covenants with God which can lead us back to God.  We know about relationships continuing after death. The Atonement of the Savior answers why babies and children die with comfort to us.

-another key truth in the Church is that God created Adam and Eve for a large purpose. To create mortal bodies for Gods spirit children so they could experience mortality. This is how God sees his spirit children to hearth to learn and grow. Because he loves them God sends messengers to teach then. Apostles of the Lord are duty bound to warn people and help people get answers to life’s hard questions. The document The Family a Proclamation t the World warns those who neglect family responsibilities will stand before God accountable Communities are to help avoid evil so calamities don’t come upon us.

-another key doctrine to cling to is to observe the Sabbath day. It hopes us rest and stay clean from the world. Worship the Father and the Son each Sunday. This is a sign of our love for them.  Sacrament meeting belongs to the Lord and should be based on his teachings.  At months fast and testimony meeting we express love for God and the gospel and to witness of such, to share brief thoughts and solemn testimony but not to give speeches. Children practice at other places than the pulpit until they understand importance of this.  Ward Councils plan these meetings several weeks in advance. The spirit felt at Church helps children to learn to love the Lord and to help heal us in spirit.  Christ is always near to helps  us as we pray to him for help

-by definition the ship is a vehicle with purpose to take us to a destination, ours is the Celestial glory and the presence of God! God is at the helm. We can’t reach the destination by jumping out of the boat and trying to swim there ourselves.  No one gets to exaltation without what is in the Church.  In the Church we learn to trust God and make covenants with God which are our passport to exaltation.  Without the Church we are without rudder or ore swimming with the strong currents of Satan. The ship is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This Church is named after Jesus Christ the captain of the ship.

2015 October Elder Richard J. Maynes Presidency of the Seventy

-to make pottery the most important part is to place the clay on the exact center of the wheel. The center of our lives must be Jesus Christ and his gospel. Learn of it and follow his example  to keep the commandments with exactness. Father in Heaven is the potter we are the clay we are the work of his hand Isaiah said.  We need them to get to the Celestial Kingdom. The joy level of our lives will be based on how well we live the teachings of Jesus Christ and his gospel.

-resist the worlds increasingly strong pushes against us trying to get us to disobey God’s commandments

-king Lamoni was only willing to give up half of his kingdom to have his life spared. But when he learned about the gospel of Christ, he was willing to give up his whole kingdom.

-the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints has the fullness of the gospel and can bring you the peace you seek in life.

-Nephi says that he had more problems than he could even write. Yet he says they lived after the manner of happiness because their lives were centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sister Neill F Marriot: Second Councilor Young Women General Presidency

-protestants love Jesus and wait for further knowledge. The Missionaries of The Church bring that and end their waiting.

-her daughter died at age 21 and she wasn’t able to be with her when she passed; in the gospel we understand that because of the gospel of Jesus Christ NO ONE EVER REALLY DIES.  They go on living as a spirit. Hence we can have the motto “It will all work out.”  We hope in the eternal outcome not just in present results.

-all things can work together for our good. That doesn’t mean al things are good, but that all things can combine for god.

-the sacrament is the heart of the Sabbath.

-pray to God for forgiveness, then ask “God is there more ?” Maybe there is something else he can point out to us something else we should repent of or secrets to confess. God will show us as we ask. We can feel justified in our animosity but yielding to God’s way is the only way.

-the healing of our heat begins when we submit to God.

-in order to have a healed heart we must first allow it to brake before the Lord.  Our self-willed hearts begin to yield and break before God

-vanquish the desire to have things your way, have them God’s way the only way to lead to Eternal Life in the world to come.

-as covenant Israel, we donut just try on our own, we appeal to God and he takes us as we are an helps us improve.

-trust in and love for God inspires a commitment to obey him

-the healing of Christ is mightier than any affliction damage wound we have.

2015 October Elder Larry R. Lawrence

-friends may initially attract people to the Church, but eventually it’s the plan of salvation that we can progress eternally to become as God that attracts people to the Church. Jesus taught this at the sermon on the mount, be ye therefore perfect even as your father which is in heaven is perfect. We came to earth to learn until we are perfected in Christ.  The path toward heaven causes us to become better.

-we need to ask the Lord for directions along the way about how we are to change improve and strengthen certain weaknesses.

-the rich young ruler was righteous and keeping the ten commandments and when asked what he could do to be perfect, he refused to do that.  He was asked to make a sacrifice more than he ever considered would be asked of him. It was SPECIFIC COUNCIL FOR HIM.  We must all ask” WHAT LACK I YET? Answers come from the Holy Ghost. ASK.

-The Holy Ghost really does give customized council and will speak to us things that no one else will say.  Perhaps to not use bad language or to not interrupt people or to stop studying school work on Sunday and study the gospel instead, or to go clean your room.

-The Holy Ghost doesn’t tell us to improve everything at once if so we would get discouraged and give up. It’s line upon line. Blessed are who receive, for those who do will get more. We may be prompted to say thank you more then move on to something more specific like saying I’m sorry that was my fault. Sacrament is an ideal time to hear these messages.

-ponder before praying, ask wife for her council, don’t exceed the speed limit when driving, etc.

-The Atonement is for Saints as well as sinners. For obedient people ho are striving to become better

-make a list of things to do in a day

-ask the Lord in prayer “what is keeping me from progressing?” The answer will come as you wait for it a few moments.

-it could be to forgive someone be more honest or more careful about which movies you watch or to be more generous of your fast offerings.

-at times we need ask the Lord what we are doing right so the Lord can lift us.

-The Lord rejoices every time we take a step forward. To him our direction is more important than our speed.

-perfection comes after death but here we lay the foundation. It’s our duty to be better today than yesterday. If spiritual improvement isn’t a priority to us we will miss out on the experiences God has in store for us.

-when we hunger for the right God pours out more and more until the Lord pierces the veil and we see the Lord President Kimball said.

-allow the Holy Ghost to lead us home.

2015 October Elder Francisco J. Vinas of the Seventy

-the pleasing word of God to heal the soul is found in the scriptures and words of the prophets. In this world our joy is not dull but in Christ our joy is full.

-divorce death dispose abuse from those who were supposed to love you cause the question  “Oh God where art thou” Joseph Smith asked this. The word of God fills us with hope. After much tribulation come the blessings.

-our eternal sealings bless our prosperity

-those without opportunity for certain things won’t be robbed of the opportunity of those things.

-more affliction will come in our lives if we fail to repent

-as sorrow attends sin, joy attends repentance of sin.

-Joseph Smith taught that we condemn ourselves and disappointment is what makes torment as intense as a burning lake of fire and brimstone.

-excusing ourselves because of our sins merely brings more pain and grief. Rather we should act to get a remission of our sins.

-relief from sin comes from exercising faith in Christ and repenting.

-repentance is a process not something that happens in a moment. It requires consistency in each of it’s steps.

– Taking the sacrament is an expression of desire to obey God. When we go obey throughout the week we begin to get remission of our sins.

-if we only honor God with our lips the spirit leaves and we loose the remission of our sins.

-don’t do inappropriate things for the sacred Sabbath, or come late to Church, or leave Church early.

-“turn away from doing thy pleasure on my holy day” do Gods ill on the Sabbath.

-when a person’s will is swallowed up in the will of God, that is when he is sanctified says Brigham Young.

-reconcile yourself with the will of God not with the will of the devil and the flesh. This allows us the have the Holy Spirit as our companion. It will take all malice envy strife and all evil from our hearts and cause our entire will to be to do good. With this we won’t be offended nor offend others. We will love others more forgive more and spread happiness to those around us, and be glad about the progression of others, and seek the good of others. Sincere and continued repentance keeps the Holy Ghost in our lives.

2015 October Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-if there is no righteousness there is no  happiness. The Adversary and his people tell us that you can sin and be happy here or wait for happiness in a world to come which may not exist. This is not true.

-God the Father is our creator, Jesus Christ is our Savior.

-be temple worthy in good times and in bad times so that the turmoils of this life which shall come we may do well through. Determine to be temple worthy regardless of what’s to come.

-happiness in this life depends on righteousness.

-those who are now dead and waiting for the resurrection are in a state of happiness if they had lived righteously in this life.

-Jesus Christ’s teachings stressed personal righteousness

-God has established what righteousness is

-Christianity is under attack in the world today. People believed morals have changed and more people call evil good and good evil. People do self-aggrandizement.

-there is overall stagnation in the world today.

-our choices matter

-the Lord commends preparation and action in the parables he taught and condemned procrastination and idolness.

-rewards for resisting distractions seem dim but aren’t.

-wickedness never was happiness.

-Alma 34:32 this life is the time to prepare to meet God.

-here are 3 principals that contribute to righteousness: practice self restraint

-Dr. Walter Mischel the Stanford professor who did the children patience marshmallow test just published a book he wrote of how avoiding something once helps you avoid  other bad things in the future.

-for spiritual and temporal matters, living  righteously builds us so we can be even more righteous

-being a missionary takes endurance and discipline that need continue after or atrophy occurs

-there are 230,000 missionaries in the church now

-2. honoring the Sabbath brings safety to our family. For Jews and Christians the Sabbath symbolizes the mighty works of God. Honor God as your creator. Recite scripture. Sing Sabbath songs in a celebratory mood.

-the Sabbath is a sing between us and God that he is our God. Family love and devotion comes from honoring the Sabbath. Many Jewish people are happy because of their honoring the Sabbath.

-the Sabbath separates us from that which is frivolous. It helps us to be in but not of the world.

-truly making the Sabbath a delight is a refuge from the storm. IMPROVE YOUR SABBATH WORSHIP/

-3. members of the Church have there right to companionship of the Holy Ghost to cleanse us if the gospel is first in our lives. It can be a voice of protection to us to avoid temptations an dangers and comfort and lead us through challenges. The fruits of the spirit are faith joy peace etc.

-life is not easy nor meant to be. It’s a time of testing and trial. There will be times when the tide goes out. It will seem like all supporting us in life disappears and we may hit the bottom and tip over like a ship on land but keeping a temple worthy life will always bless us.

2015 October Elder Robert D Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-not wanting marriage and children is a strange path that people without the gospel wander.

-we need to tighten our grip on the rod which leads us back to God. We must straighten up and fly right.

-today’s youth face the gathering storms of the last days

-ask yourself “if I ask this choice what is the worst thing that could happen?”

-choose to never drink and you’ll never be an alcoholic. Never go into debt and you’ll never go bankrupt.

-many scripture characters had to flee from society. In every instance Heavenly Father warned them on how to fight flee or whatever the need be.

-scriptures prophets living and inspired parents and patriarchal blessings and the spirits small voice all can lead us if we let them.

-if you are there for the Lord he will be there for you. Love him and keep his commandments and he will be there to guide you.

-you are rich if you can live happily within your means. When you learn more save more. Don’t buy what you can’t afford.  For school seed scholarships grants and part time work.

-knowledge goes away with darkness suspense and doubt where there is knowledge there is power Joseph Smith said. Education prepares you for what is ahead.

-dating is time for lengthy conversations and get to know all you can about each other and weather you have similar goals and feelings about callings in the church service to others etc. Do they tear others down or build them up? Is their language and conduct match what you want to live with every day? That said none of us marry perfection we marry potential.   Dating and marriage aren’t final deceptions, they are the gateway to where you want to go. Be worthy of the person you want to marry.  God has a plan for the unmarried people weather in this life or the next. Take council from the Lord. In this life or the next his promises will be fulfilled. If you are prepared you shall not fear. If you are poor don’t worry. Raise your children on faith not money. Don’t let faith atrophy occur but exercise your faith all of the time.  Worthiness for marriage entails taking the sacrament and being temple worthy.

-prayerfully select mentors who have your spiritual well being at heart. Be careful about taking council from your peers. Reach upward not sideways. . Only your resolve to be obedient can change your life.

-the prodigal son had many opportunities awaiting him, he merely had to analyze himself. He “came to himself”. I encourage you to come to yourself.

-ask where you want to be one and two years from now and which choices you need to make there to arrive.  God shall help you.

-go forward not backward

2015 October Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-Apostleship is the sweetest association a person could imagine

-The Savior helps us get from where we were to where we want to be which we couldn’t get there on our own

-Christ carries us forward when strength is gone and brings us safety when such is far beyond our reach

-bear bore labor deliver- these are Savior words and mother words. In the very midst of the Atonement Jesus said behold thy mother. The love of a devoted mother for it’s child comes closest to Jesus Christ’s love. The only thing more absurd than thinking a mother would forsake her child is thinking that Christ would desert us.

-though mountains depart, mothers love will not

-mothers carry not just prenatal but lifelong and hence it’s a staggering feat

-most mothers know this is a trust of the highest order

-mothers love children so deeply that they voluntarily subject themselves to less freedom, and take on heartache and vulnerability, and just keep coming back for more. Their life is never ever to be their own again. Maternal love has to be divine there is no other explanation for such feelings.

-motherhood is between unbearable and transcendent over and over again until all on earth are safe and we can say with Jesus Father I have finished the work that thou gavest me to do.

-a man who knew the Church was true but was dying away from it said “I don’t know how bad it’s doing to be to stand before God but the thought of standing before my mother is even a worse thought, the gospel and her children meant EVERYTHING to her, and I have broken her heart.”

-in any moment of temptation behold the Savior parenting as well as our mother to spare them both the pain.

-mothers have pillars of existence: the gospel of Jesus Christ and their family. They have undying love for both.

-mothers are Messianic figures.

-to you who struggle mothers, be peaceful. You are doing better than you think. You are standing with the Savior. Your love never faith. I can pay no higher tribute to anyone.

2015 October Elder Bradley D Foster

-in the past the world wanted our children’s time today it wants their identity. We cannot let society give children a makeover in the image of the world.

-parents must hope children before it grows too late

-from here on out we must be involved in intentional parenting.

-Jesus said to parents “behold your little ones”.

-our children are the largest group of investigators in the Church. Focus on their lasting conversion.

-if our children merely hear but don’t understand the gospel the door is left open for Satan to steal their hearts.

-words evolve we must ensure communication is clear

-the Lord wants children to succeed for they were his before they were ours

-develop the processes of learning so that messages you teach can be carried unto the heart of the children.

-parents need to be miracle workers like the teacher of Helen Keller

-take your child aside and tell then “I was once your age too. When you see such and such happen I want you to come and talk to me.” At nine he was warned against cheating. At ten he was warned against pornography. At age eleven he was warned against addictive substances in addition to that.

-Heavenly Father blesses his children from generation to generation by parents doing what they have seen their parents do. The Son doeth nothing but what he hath seen the father do.

-it’s never too early or too late to tell and teach to your husband.

-we can’t turn back time and have our children become small again but that doesn’t matter; families are forever so we can always speak to them about life and deceptions and what is right. Heavenly Father has been though it all and will help us.

2015 October Hugo Montoya of the Seventy

it is as needful for us to be tried as it was for Abraham. God will take hold of you and wrench your very heart strings. Trials and temptations are universal but can help us grow.

-our burdens are lighter as we help others; so find names for the temple, take them to the temple, and teach others.

-smiling to people can bring peace to their overwhelmed hearts

-The Book of Mormon has account of Jesus smiling upon the Apostles

-extend compassion to others this is how to use the power of the Priesthood.

-inviting others to come to Church gives them more opportunity to reflect upon Jesus Christ who took upon himself all the loneliness pains etc. He comprehends all.

-summary: go the second mile, smile, express compassion, and invite others to church.

-Jesus Christ sustains the Fathers plan with ll his might and power.

-President Monson holds all the keys to successfully carry out the Fathers plan on earth today.

2015 October Vern P Stanfill of the Seventy

-stay close to those with more light. Long before reaching the end of the tunnel you no longer need the light of others seeing the full light of day.

-our preparations are insufficient often and that will make us confused and embarrassed.

-we choose how much the dark can influence us.

-in your moment of need, don’t question the Saviors power to hope, just call out for him to save you like Peter did upon the water.

-why listen to those in the great and spacious building rather than those who love us? They try to destroy our faith in contorted carefully crafted. They use social media to destroy us. Don’t leave your life in the hands of strangers.

-those who truly love us can help us build our faith.

-when you realize that the Savior is too precious to lose because of being too embarrassed to have help it’s at that point that others church leaders etc can help us.

-spiritual integrity is confessing that there are things that have happened in your life that can only be explained by the fact that they are from God.

-ignoring or discounting past spiritual experiences will distance us from God.

-the more we go toward the light the brighter it will become in our lives.

-there is no dark so fence that it can’t be overcome by light.

-as evil increases, there is compensatory increase in spirituality provided by God which we can access.

-we are not alone in this dark world we have the power to choose to believe in God and not doubt. Seek personal revelation.

Elder James B. Martino of the Quorum of the Seventy

-when an answer to a prayer to God about weather the Book of Mormon is true comes when we have a sincere heart with pure intent, not just to respond to our mere curiosity.

–getting answers from God begins with being converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

-those who know not the things of God don’t believe in God, and think that obeying God is illogical.

-Leman and Lemuel went through the same experiences as Nephi and they reacted with anger rather than faith. They even saw and heard an angel but continued to doubt. Mortal life is hard for all of us.

-people who have had undeniable spiritual experiences including missionaries can forget about them if they get out of spiritual habits.

-be obedient and remember when you’ve felt help in the past and ask God for help the answer will come NEVER GIVE UP.

-searching the scriptures and fasting are part of why some stay faithful and some don’t

-we MUST do daily scripture study

-purposefully not eating enables us to get faster answers to our pearlers

-ask yourself if you are as close to living like Christ as you have been before

-being baptized is about committing your life to Christ.  That is what the Book of Mormon is about.  It will become delicious to you hand help you get answers to lives questions.

2015 October Elder Dallin H Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-death and sin are covered by the Atonement if we apply to it. There are other challenges we need the Atonement for also.

-In Alma we have the clearest scriptural assurances that Christ also experienced the pains and infirmities of his people.  He experienced every kind of temptations.

-all combined torment known to man combined Christ suffered.

-since the Savior experienced every hard thing he can help every weak person become stronger

-Christ’s suffering gives us the strength to bear it all.

-Book of Mormon speaks of Jesus healing all manner of people

-sometimes we are given strength or patience to endure mortal afflictions rather than being wholly healed right away.

-mortality is filled with frequent struggling.

-we all experience failure in our responsibilities

-we have particular pain in the straying loved one

-many are the afflictions of the righteous but our Lord delivers him out of them all

-earth hath no sorrow that heaven cannot cure what cures us is Savior.

-for many depression is PERMANENTLY disabling and not the fault of the person.

-even the grip of addiction may be relieved by Christ

-Christ walks the prison halls and his love is often felt there healing there

-ONLY Jesus Christ can understand and succor us fully

-Jesus will succor his people. Who is that? Everyone. Good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. He can help everyone but only does so for who seek him. Believe in him and pray for his help and you qualify for his help.

-Jesus has gone beneath it all and is in position to lift and strengthen us if we ask.

-Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ hear and answer the prayers of all who seek him in faith.

-Atonement of Christ does more than universal resurrection and forgiving sins of who repent, it’s to give strength for us to succeed in life. He is like the good Samaritan who when finding us at the wayside will bind us up and care for us.

-one day all of these mortal burdens will pass away and there will be no more pain

-immortality is sure. The opportunity for Eternal life is available. If we ask God will sustain us.

2015 October Elder Neil L Anderson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-The Savior saw there are carrying levels of faith. It’s not a mysterious or hap chance thing. It emits a discernible light and has substance. It’s either growing or weakening. It’s power for this life and the next. One day you’ll be saved by faith.

-going on a mission is a commandment and is more important than any other sacrifices you are making for family or otherwise. It won’t happen by chance but by choice.

-Those in this Church are not in neutral ground. This is the restoration of the gospel.

-exercising Christlike attributes increases our faith

-there is an adversary who delights in destroying our faith. “Be relentless in protecting your faith”

-most questions can be resolved with mind and heart not mind alone for theses are heavenly things not earthly

-“Faith never demands an answer to every questions” but we move forward on the path of discipleship

-don’t get answers from the faithless and the unfaithful.

-Questions concerning the prophet Joseph Smith are not new but have been hurled since the beginning of this Church.

-for now give brother Joseph Smith a break. Eventually you’ll have one hundred times more information available than all the internet search engines and it’ll come from Father in Heaven.

-I testify that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.

-Book of Mormon now in 110 languages around the world it’s powerful evidence of the restoration read it again it will increase your faith. When have you last read it?

-your testimony like a flame can grow to be unquenchable

-as you live the gospel you can know that dispute tragedy you’ll see your family again.

-people of faith can testify that no matter how alone you feel God will not forsake you

-faith is not something that began at birth nor will it end at death.

-may Christ say about you “great is your with”

-may you stand pure in the presence of God

2015 October Randall K. Bennett of the Seventy

-w have heavens help because of Jesus Christ and his atonement to go from where to are to where we want to be.

-when faith is exercised it increases.

-when a baby falls in trying to walk they don’t give up forever and the parents don’t think he is hopeless they rejoice in the smallest growth and know that trying again and again leads to success.

-do like we did as babies to our parents in learning to walk, take steps toward our Heavenly Father and never give up.

-the Lord more than matches our willingness to take steps in faith

–all God asks is one tenth of what we have and promises to pour the windows of heaven our upon us.

-the Lord will guide us to and through our next steps. We must continue moving forward with faith in Christ.

-Spiritual gifts are for the righteous and those who try to be righteous

-Sabbath day observance is a covenant

-the holy spirits influence guides us so keep the Sabbath so you can have that spirit

-devoted Sabbath day observance the promise for that is that the fullness of the earth will be ours.

-ordinances and covenants become our credentials for entrance back into God’s presence President Packer taught.

-be yoked to the Savior he has never failed and will never fail us

-the faithful shall embrace God

-don’t wait to take your next step toward Jesus Christ take it now.

President Uchtdorf Second Councilor of the First Presidency

-ancient Babylon was the superpower of the world it was a world center of learning law and philosophy nothing compared to it. It easily conquered Jerusalem and carried the best and brightest to Babylon. Daniel was taken believed to be between 13 and 17 years old when taken into kings court to be indoctrinated by the religion of his enemies.  There must have been immense pressure to abandon his old beliefs but he stayed true in word and deed.

-many of us know what it’s like to defend an unpopular doctrine. But Daniel knew that if he challenged publicly he would literally get flamed.

-Daniel spent many hours on his knees praying waiting on the Lord for understanding and wisdom. And the Lord did bless Daniel. He stayed by his own experience of what he knew to be right. He believed and did not doubt.

-Daniel when challenged of his faith went to the source of his faith, God. Then the secret was revealed to him.

-Daniel who was a stranger prisoner who was bullied from believing in a strange religion he approached the king and became renown for his wisdom in all Babylon

-This boy who lived his faith became a prophet a man of God.

-do we enthusiastically walk the walk?

-we have been entrusted to build God’s kingdom of earth. This is a time of great spiritual power. We have priesthood keys to seal on earth and in heaven and sacred scriptures and teachings of Prophets and Apostles are available as never before. Don’t take it lightly great obligations come with them.

-Babylon’s worldliness and wickedness live on. Now it falls to us to live as believers in a world of disbelief. Daily live gospel principals and true to God’s commandments.

-be not impressed from false friends of false prophets from what ever area they come from.

-overcome pour own laziness

-it would have been easier for Daniel to set aside the commandments and eat what the popular people ate. He could have been popular and fit in and had a less complicated path. BUT when the king demanded interpretation of his dream Daniel would realize like the rest that he lost his connection with heaven. But his set is passed and over. Our test is now.

-the devil suggests that the people who believe in God are blind naive or brainwashed and that they who doubt are sophisticated.

-know this one simple fast: we believe in God because of what we know in our heart and mind not because of what we don’t know. These things are often too sacred to explain with words but that doesn’t mean they aren’t true. God offers a full feast. If people reach out to Heavenly Father they can have bright  spiritual knowledge filling their minds with wisdom and their souls with joy.

-we often hear “I wish I could believe the way you do” this is Satan’s deception that belief is available to some and not others. There is no magic to this but wanting to believe is the first steep.  God is your father and wants to speak to you but it requires a scientific curiosity, an experiment on the word of God and exercise of thigh some humility and an open heart and an open mind. Also seeking it the full sense of the word, we well as patience and waiting on the Lord. Making no effort to believe is like the man who unplugs his spotlight and blames the light in not giving light.

-those who wait around for God to come to them we feel sorry for. They are rejecting what the Lord offers us. They unplug the light and think it’s a clever observation that there is no light. They put the burden of truth on God and excuse ourselves from taking responsibility in regard to our relationship with God.

-there is nothing noble or impressive about being skeptical or cynical anyone can do it. It’s the faithful life which requires dedication and courage. This is more strong than those who give in when mysterious questions arise.

-it should not surprise us that society doesn’t value belief. It has a long history of rejecting what it can’t understand.  Just because we an’t see something doesn’t mean it’s not real. There is more that happens on our each that we can’t see more than what’s in all the text books.

-choose to believe and follow Jesus Christ and we open our spiritual eyes to splendors we can hardly imagine and we grow stronger and see even more.

-even in the toughest of times the Savior will say to us be not afraid only believe. We can choose to believe and discover the dawn of life.

-because of our belief will never hunger or thirst it fills our soul like  a well of water springing up unto everlasting life.

-whatever age you are have courage to believe stand with Daniel.

2015 October President Henry B Eyring: First Councilor of the First Presidency

-our hearts prayers and faith sustain them whom are the servants of God

-we all need confidence that the Lord will sustain us in our calling.

-any call in the Lord’s Kingdom requires more that our personal powers ask and that help will come

-the Lord’s purpose at sacrament meeting is not just to have them teak bread and water but to renew a covenant to take them to Eternal Life.

-people are reassured that the spirit will be with them as they take the sacrament

-even young deacons are partner with the Lord in his work.

-baptism makes one clean! Clean!

-make friends with people they’ll tell of of what their problems were for the problems always happen to them and they ask what’s missing in their lives then you take them with you to church and show them. It’s your small part so be modest about it, and the Lord does his part.

-all you need is the courage that God has called you on your mission. Then you can go no matter how unprepared you feel even if you are a new convert of this year.  When it’s the will of the brethren you accept  the calling.

-when you don’t know what to do pray and God can show you in a dream

-I bear special witness that we are in the service of the Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ.

-God’s prophet is the president of all the Priesthood in the entire earth and he is inspired of God.

2015 October President Thomas S. Monson: President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

-keep the commandments they’re to bring freedom.

-keep the commandments and you lives will be less complicated

-he has given laws and commandments e choose weather to accept or reject them our deception in this determines his destiny

-it’s imperative that we make choices throughout our lives to get to heaven with God.

-Satan and his people are relentlessly against us and will bring us down unless we are relentless in our efforts to achieve our goal.

-the devil is as a lion roaring seeking to devour

-teen age years are particularly vulnerable. Be strong and alert to ANYTHING that would rob you in eternity.

-there are many loud voices in the world. Turn the volume down and be influenced by the still small voice that will guide you to safety.

remember you’re a member of the Church with the Holy Ghost because one with authority put their hands on your head and caused such

-as Isaiah said the Lord will say this is the way walk ye in it

-disregard for the commandments has lead the way for the plagues of our day of permissiveness abortion drugs and pornography to name just a few. The adversary is the founder of all these things.

-if you allow him to the adversary will lead you to a slippery slope before you realize there is no way to stop. He says everyone is doing it don’t be old fashioned your life is yours to live it can’t hurt anyone. The adversary knows us and which temptations will be difficult for us.

-the commandments are God given so man can’t change them. People can set them aside but they can’t change them or the consequences that come from disobeying them

-Isa. 32:17: the effect of righteousness is peace forever

-we can’t give any leeway with sin. NO OR  we will be grabbed by an iron hand from which it’s painful to free ourselves. addictions are real and nearly impossible to break without great struggle and real help.

-the path is difficult but your eternal salvation depends on it what is more worth your effort?

-repent now the sooner you do the sooner you’ll be able to experience the peas and quietness spoken of by Isaiah.

-playing with breaking commandments leads to destroying our family

-with Priesthood leaders family and friend you can leave addiction

-we are on earth at this specific time for a purpose.  We have been given the Priesthood to bless others and need live worthy of it.

2015 October President Monson President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

-where faith is doubt cannot exist and vice versa one extinguishes the other

-we will stand out because we dress modestly don’t use profanity not partake of substances harmful to our bodies and no off colored humor and degrading remarks and no choices which are degrading and drive the spirit away. We adhere to moral choices which adhere to gospel standards.

-in places where we can’t proselyte we can still be seen as different by the light in our eyes

-we come from God to reflect our light to others the light of Christ for the season of this life

2015 October Ronald A Rasband Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-let us all strive for a multi-generational family in the Church

-we stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us with pride

-there is no choice sin or mistake we can make to change God’s love for us. He doesn’t excuse sinful conduct but we are to reach out to others to serve and rescue.

-Jesus Christ looked past peoples’ circumstances race ethnicity etc to speak love to them

-become a witness of Christ and stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers us, may it be wonderful to us.

2015 October Gary E. Stevenson Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-President Monson said the Lord will qualify those he calls

-wives are the sunshine in and of our lives

-Heavenly Fathers generous compensation for having us live in the perilous times is that we live in the fullness of times. This dispensation of the fullness of times began with Heavenly Father and his son Jehovah appearing to Joseph Smith.

-don’t worry about what you can’t do, focus on what you can do bare testimony of gospel truths.

2015 October Dale G. Renlund Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-theLord does what he needs to through us if we do it in his way.

-Callings we get aren’t about us it’s about the Lord, his work, and Heavenly Father’s children.

-everyone we serve is a beloved son or daughter of h  evenly parents and hence has divine potential

-to effectively serve others in the Church we must see them through a parents eyes, through Heavenly Father’s eyes only then can we send the saviors love for them. This is the only way to be able to comfort those in need of comfort.

-we must feel the right way if we are to accomplish the rescue Thomas Monson is calling for

-Priesthood keys are on earth today, I know it.

2015 October President Russel M. Nelson President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-faith filled people have tranquility

-this dispensation is different than any others and brings great responsibility

-President Kimbal said that much of the major growth in the Church in the last days is from women. This will be because of the women of the Church reflecting righteousness and being distinct and different in happy ways from the women of the world. To the degree they do this they will bring many to the Church.

-the day President Kimbal prophecies of as the last days and women converting is TODAY.

-we need women who are organized and who can organize and plan and administer speak out and teach and detect those that are shallow or dangerous dispute popularity.

-today we need women who know how to make things happen because of faith in a SIN SICK WORLD. Women who help others on the covenant path to exaltation. Women who teach fearlessly.

-if you quit now others will have to painfully learn what you already know

-after crying all night for failing at work his wife said are you done? Now go to work you need to learn more.

-sisters have special intuition as gifts from God. Men can’t duplicate that.

-culmination of all creation was the creation of woman.

-attacks against the Church are going to increase, so we need women with bedrock understanding doctrine of Christ who’ll teach a sin resistant generation. Express your beliefs with confidence and charity.

-we need women with the confidence and charity of Eve (*A tall order! A majestic age when such do rise!)

-sisters take your rightful and needful place in your home community and the kingdom of God.

-the Holy Ghost will magnify your influence in an unprecedented way I promise you in the name of Jesus Christ

-women, rise to the measure of your creation as we walk arm to arm in this work. Together we will help prepare the world for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

2015 October Gregory A. Schwitzer of the Seventy

-piano is a mechanical miracle, and an extension of one’s own voice. The better you play the more you can feel the message of the song.

-the communication must be clear or people will not know how to answer the call. We need to make this call.

-Christ was not afraid to speak against the earthly powers/rulers of his day.

-Christ didn’t try to confuse others but to move their hearts.

-true disciples aren’t trying to make excuses for the doctrine of the Church when it doesn’t match the worlds ways. They represent the Lord when it may not be convenient.

-the great and spacious building isn’t just the most rebellious. This building is growing inside. Many wander it’s halls not realizing they’re becoming part of it’s culture. They eventually find themselves joining in with the mockers. It’s not just about how they live, but they speak loudly to drown out the message of the gospel by attacking some aspect of the Church history or criticism of a leader of the Church.

-let the trumpet sound from our souls.

-the path of happiness is through the basic family unit as organized originally by Heavenly Father. Many recognize this because they heard it from their pre mortal parents.

-As LDS it’s time to stand up and testify of these things, and that the gospel is restored and that Heavenly Father lives and loves us as does Jesus Christ.

2015 October Claudio R. M. Costa of the Seventy

– on the Sabbath make a tradition of telling the stories of Jesus to our families

-Sabbath and Sacrament become much more enjoyable as we study the stories of Jesus.

-always remember Christ refers to pre-mortal mortal and post-mortal Christ and the specific events thereof

2015 October President Henry B Eyring First Councilor in the First Presidency

-This is the general conference of the Lord’s Church

-The Holy Ghost has been testifying to the words we’ve been hearing

-increase your desire for the Holy Ghost’s companionship.

-when we were told at confirmation with hands upon head “Receive the Holy Ghost”, our lives changed forever.

-the sacrament prayer shows how the promise of the Holy Ghost’s companionship can be fulfilled (remember Christ, keep his commandments, take his name upon you)

-we can have the Holy Ghost in our daily lives.

-the Holy Ghost can increase the warnings against sin

-taking the sacrament in faith causes us to be able to be protected. It can make what’s good more attractive and what’s bad more repulsive this should motivate us to get it. It also shows truth from falsehood. Use of our physical senses aren’t enough. We live in a time when even the WISEST WILL BE HARD PRESSED TO UNDERSTAND TRUTH FROM FALSEHOOD like Thomas the Apostle.

-truths are verified by the Holy Ghost

-falsehoods may come at any time so we need the Holy Ghost constantly.

-George Q Cannon of the 12 Apostles said we must make a constant quest for the Holy Ghost. As we do we will have strong faith never doubt and faith in full.

-the doctrine that we have the Resurrected Savior comforts us when death occurs unexpectedly. It can be any time so always be ready.

-hearts full of charity and virtue UNCEASINGLY garnish the thoughts allows the Holy Ghost to not be offended and leave.

-the most valuable inspiration is the know what God would have you do what ever it is do it. This demonstration of willingness to obey causes God to send more frequent instruction, closer and closer to constant companionship.  Your power to act will increase. You’ll be able to know more and more when it’s the spirit or just you. You can choose to obey with confidence then the Lord will be with you. When it seems hard like observing the Sabbath, the Lord will help.

-his father not knowing where to go for an LDS church started walking and prayed at every intersection of where to go. Over an hour later he heard singing in a basement and saw an LDS sacrament meeting was occurring there.

-whenever a group of LDS ask you to go speak to them go do it; it doesn’t matter how many of them there are etc. you go and bare witness.

-when his dad’s wife died he said “our little girl has gone home” he shed no tears knowing where she came from what she had become and where she was going. The Holy Ghost had bourn witness to him many times of the resurrected Savior and of the power of the sealing in the temple that would allow them to be together after death.

-his dad was a scientist who saw visions of molecules moving in his mind then did experiments and saw those confirmed. He was honored for his use of the tools of science, but in religion he did different methods and found eternal truth there.

-healthcare professionals are angels who watch over our loved ones

-his dad prayed to know if his deceased mother was lost in the spirit world and God told him her mother was there to receive her upon arrival at the spirit world.

-we must repent and be baptized

-a scripture says put your trust in that spirit which leadeth to do good, to walk humbly, and judge righteously, and this is my spirit, which shall fill your mind and soul with joy.

-Revelation through the Holy Ghost guides and sustains the Church.

2015 October D. Todd Christtofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

-the Church is the creation of him in whom our spirituality centers, Jesus Christ. He uses a Church, His Church, to carry our his and his father’s work to bring to pas s the immortality and eternal life of man.

-beginning with family it was a family based Priesthood order where baptisms occurred then God called more teachers. In Moses’ time there more more Priests and teachers etc. Also the church at the time of Alma was thus. Then Christ himself formed a church it had various offices. That church fell away and was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith it’s to preach the gospel and administer the ordinances of salvation which is to bring people to Christ.

-with this restored Church even the spirits of the dead who died without knowledge of Christ have opportunity to come unto Christ.

-to go from grace to grace and receive all the father has it can’t just happen with being nice and feeling spiritual a church is needed for a group of people who sustain each other in the narrow path to eternal life.  It’s to make unity in the faith and correct knowledge and to make us like Christ, the fullness of his stature.

-uniting to Christ’s church is an important part of talking his name upon ups.

-because of the Church there will one day be a time when everyone knows about the Christ. The True Christ.

-living together in love not just by ones self we form the body of Christ each forming a part. Even those that seem more feeble are necessary. We red these callings and we need to serve. why go to church instead of skiing? we are all on the same journey and it’s exciting the association of others who are on that journey as well.

-The Sabbath is a day to leave the world behind. one of the greatest things about being a part of the body of Christ is being reproved for at times we don’t know where we are straying. This helps us get the courage to change and follow the master.

-repentance is individual but fellowship is as a church

-we don’t strive for conversation to the church but the Christ and his gospel and that is facilitated by his church. Converted to the Lord and united under the Church of CHrist.

-the Church and the family serve an strengthen one another.

-he church even at it’s best CANNOT SUBSTITUTE FOR PARENTS.

-Christ also works through the church to accomplish things we can’t on our own. Like caring to the poor. In the Church the broader needs of people can be met. Self reliance can be realized for many by the Church’s resources.

0without his church in place the Savior’s commission to take the gospel to all the world would not one realized th keys would not be here nor the means nor motivation to do it. The gospel must be preached to a lll nations THEN THE END WILL COME.

-God gathers people in any age to build a hose of the Lord to yeah the people the way of salvation and give them certain ordinances and principals that must be done in a house built for that person Joseph Smith said

-not all roads lead to heaven and there are particular requirements for heaven. We speak not just of immortality but of Eternal Life and for that the gospel covenants and ordinances are essential and the Savior needs a church to make that available for the living and the dead.

-The Church is the Kingdom of God on the Earth also.

-The Keys of the Church held by the Priesthood offices of the Church are the Kingdom of God and they maintain the doctrine of the Church and judge the worthiness of those who apply for ordinances then perform them to those worthy.

-Church leaders can say “thus sayeth the Lord”

–in the Church we get knowledge of things was they are were and will be

-the revelations of the Church are published in what’s called the cannon of scripture.

-the Church is the prophecies latter-day kingdom Daniel spoke of cut out of the mountain without hands to fill the earth. It’s destiny is to establish Zion which will be an organization ready for Christ when he comes. It’s a defense from the storm. call on the Lord that his kingdom may go forth in the earth and that Christ will come to meet the Kingdom of God which is one the earth.

2015 October Devin G. Durrant First Councilor Sunday School Presidency

-save money each week

-small efforts sustained over time produce large results

ponderize one verse of scripture a week. It’s 80% pondering and 20% memorization. Put a verse where you’ll see it every day.

it’s a verse each week. When it’s on our mind memorization will take place easily and naturally.

This will cause you to have a higher place for your thoughts to go and help you see the Savior saying words to you.

-we can’t except the status quo of ugly words every where we must fight back. Fill with good from God and there is no room left for trash.

-Ponderizing is an add on to your scripture study not a replacement. It may be hard but hard may be good. It can be on the home screen of your phone, fridge, truck. Share thoughts of it with friends and children and people of other faiths.

-they had a goal to do it for 20 years

-Ponderizing will help scriptures become friends you can rely on in times of need

-you can text scriptures to each other your weekly one

-you can ask each other “what’s your verse?” and share yours in return

-Jesus Christ must have developed a love for the scriptures at an early age. He referenced scriptures often in his ministry.

-can we not say that Jesus Christ spent at least 20 years studying the scriptures in preparation for his ministry?

-discipline yourself and do these things.

-scriptures will become your friends in time of need

-you will not regret this but will feel purpose protection and power.

-Jesus said do the things which ye have seen me do.

2015 October Elder Von G. Keetch of the Seventy

-don’t be too critical of the barrier it’s the only thing keeping your from being devoured. Commands and standards from God are like a barrier in the water keeping sharks from getting to you.

-we see through a glass darkly we often can’t comprehend the dangers just below the surface.

-there are spiritual predators and sin is gaping jaws

-we manifest faith and love particularly when we don’t understand the reasons.

-Waves not he other side of the barrier may be attractive but trust in God that it’s there for a reason blocking sharks who would devour us

0Ananias was sent to a man Saul who had literal authority to impression Christians but the Lord helped it to be toward he conversion of Paul.

-it’s not enough for anyone to just go through the moths. Gospel living is  how we become like Heavenly Father not just a check off list or deposits in an account. It’s transforming in nature.

-who keep commandments of god are blessed in all things both spiritual and temporal. God wants us to have joy and be safe.

commands will make us happy in this life as well as the next. They illuminate who  we are to become. Christ asked for a different path than the one marked for him but submitted to his fathers plan the path Heavenly Father had outlined for him.

-Christ path was hard but he was risen and unimaginable joy and comfort for all of God’s children throughout eternity came for it. Christ gave us the prospect of eternal peace joy and life.

-as we submit to God’s will we become what he wants us to become

2015 October Sister Carole M. Stephens First Councilor Relief Society General Presidency

-teach children why we have rules. Christ said if ye love me keep my commandments. Our laws are from love to protect same with those from God.

-if you have strayed first trust God. God’s love for us is inherent in commandments.

-in a pre mortal realm we accepted Gods plan and learned his laws were imperative to our eternal success.

-when we obey commandments we get blessings.

-God never looses sight of our eternal potential even when we do.

-if you have strayed second thing to do is trust Jesus whom gave his life for us. He said if you abide in his commandments you’ll abide in his love like he had kept his fathers commandments and abides in his fathers’ love.

-if you have strayed from God third to do is to trust the whisperings of the spirit. Christ said the Father will send the comforter. The world won’t receive it because they can’t see it but we can receive it.

-prayer scripture study fasting and obedience increase out power to hear the spirit. He will HELP US REMEMBER.

-forth thing to do is trust the words of living prophets. Christ said by their voice is the same as his. Prophets recently have been asking us to remember to keep the Sabbath day holy. Look at the Prophets to se how to live.

-these things bring joy on the journey home to heaven

2015 October Elder Alan D Haynie of the Seventy

-we aren’t allowed in the house while dirty lest we get the house dirty. No unclean thing can enter God’s kingdom; all need wash in the blood of Christ. Cleansing process is painful but to not get in the house of God is even worse.

-we participated in a grand council in heaven we all paid attention and no one of us fell asleep this was before we were born.

-Heavenly Father announced the need for a Savior and we all turned and looked to Jesus Christ we knew it had to be him none of the rest of us could do it that it had to be him and it would be.

-keeping covenants helps others return home to heaven

-it matters not what sins we have done or how deep we have sunken it matters not that at one point we traded our birth right for a mess of pottage what does mater is that Jesus Christ came to this earth and descended beneath all things. Christ is pleading our case before the father asking that they who believe in his name will be spared. so we can all try one more time because he has not forgotten us. God will never consider us a lost cause or say oh no not you again.

-repentance is real and it works it replaces burdens with hope and causes us to not want evil but to want to do good continually.

-the Saviors atonement leaves no tracks no traces what it fixes it fixes and what it heals stays healed President Kimbal said this in his last address to the Seventy.

-LDS attribute greater power to Christs atonement than other people for we know that if we follow Christ Christ will make us heirs with him and make us heirs to all the Father hath. Jesus enables us to be perfect like father in heaven.

-at the judgement of God there will be no one to hide around no group to hide in only us to answer for our sins

-Christ calls himself our friend he ultimately will be our judge. One of the often overlooked blessings of the tenement is that the Father has said that he has committed all judgement to the Son.

-like Nephi in his moment of self doubt, simply remember in whom you have put your trust and repent and you’ll have a perfect brightness of hope

2015 October Clark

-to many, they saw Christ and didn’t realize who he was. He said I came unto my own and my own received me nt. But many did follow him.

-despite their struggles they believed in and followed him; of them he said blessed are your eyes for they a see and your ears for they hear.

-Jesus said that who believe on him will do greater works than he did one fulfillment of this is the Apostles speaking in tongues at the day of Pentecost.

=-Apostles of Christ in his day lived in dangerous and confusing times but the Holy Ghost caused them to see the truth, things as they really are.  They preached the gospel with boldness and power and had joy in the Lord Jesus Christ.

-this also is a time of Christ working miracles among us like cleansing sin healing sick and converting hearts. We also have Apostles and spiritual power and blessings of ordinances of salvation. President Monson has called us to rescue those wounded in spirit. Whatever abilities we now have it will NOT BE SUFFICIENT FOR THE WORK THAT LIES AHEAD WE NEED GREATER POWER AND EARS TO HEAR HIS WORD  more deeply in our heats.

-we need to be good at getting better and to strive to live the gospel

-simple obedience brings the spirit into our hearts.

-in our chapels we make sacred promises to Christ, same in our temples. In our temples we also work for the reads’ salvation.

-obey and the Holy Ghost will come and be our companion~!! We will be blessed to see Jesus christ working in our lives. We will increasingly see all of our brothers and sisters the way that God sees them with love and compassion.

\- We will see the power of God resting upon his prophet and all the leaders of his church and we will know that this is God’s holy work we will see the world in the way that the Savior sees it and we will have what Paul called the mind of Christ. Life may get hard confusing painful and discouraging but through the companionship of the holy Ghost the light of the gospel of Christ will cut through the confusion the pain and darkness either in a burst or a flow and it’ll infuse healing love to the repentant wounded soul it will cast to  discouragement and we will see these come and know by the witness of the Spirit that it is the Lord Jesus Christ working in our lives and our afflictions will truly be swallowed up in Christ.

-the Lord knows of our disabilities and will send us where he will despite of those even if we have asthma in a hard to breath place etc.

2015 October Koichi Aoyagi

-over 20000 people perished in a recent destruction in Tokyo but no church members died though they were effected by losing possessions.

-why suffering upon us?

-we experience undeserved pan ; we have trials that we don’t know how to cope with; Church leaders can help us and teach us our purpose for being on this earth. We leave things to God and remember that our problems will be resolved with we are resurrected. The eyes of our understanding can be opening to what before message seemed like it was not the answer to us;

-God has us on earth to see if we are going to obey him in everything Abraham taught.

-0the Lord said to Joseph Smith that all trials give us experience so hold on your way and God will be with you forever and ever.

-Accept your trials with faith.

0life is not just to endure trials Jesus Christ can make our weak things become strong.President Eyring said that the test God has for us is not just to see if we can endure, but to see if we can endure well.

-Heavenly Father will school you in Christlike attributes.

-love God with your all and his grace is sufficient for you.

2015 October Elder David A. Bednar

-old men as our leaders is good so they aren’t tossed by the winds of opinion

-the past 11 years has had the highest age average of leaders of the Church in this dispensation

-when you can’t do what you’ve always been able to do with age etc you only do what matters most

-age makes Gods servants not limited but strengthened.

-limited stamina can clarify priorities

-we can expect that the leaders of the Church will be older and seasoned men.

-the mortal limitations of the leaders of the Church help show that God is who gives them revelations.

-leaders of the Church have learned the pattern God uses to reveal truth they’ve had much training

-leaders of the Church have serious physical problems but they still serve God in that. Their greatest desire is to dicers and do the will of God

-their revelations show truth far beyond human reason and intelligence.

-the limitations of the elderly are faith building

-leaders of the Church devout their whole souls to testifying of Christ and the totality of their teachings are powerful spiritual summaries of what they learned. Their words are of great worth which others think not important.

-Nephi towards life’s end said I must obey. Jacob said we must repent toward the end of his life. Moroni spoke of the judgement bar near his death.

-the work of this Church is the most important work on the earth.

-draw near to God and learn the principal of compensation and we can get through trials and say come what may and love it.

-family is the center of life and the key to happiness and they make life rich and eternal. Strongest and most sacred witness is given on this topic.

-th Atonement can clean us no matter how many times we need it

-the purpose of all activity in the Church is to see that a man and a woman are happy at home and sealed together for time and all eternity.

-challenges help us become like God and God helps us through them eatery one as we are near to him.

-the leaders of this Church are Go’s authorized representatives hear tim and you’ll hear help for your specific needs. This is Christs restored and living Church lead by the Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ and his authorized servants herein speak for him as it were his own voice.

-prophet is God’s voice

-women stand

-Prepare earth for the Second Coming

-trials help us become like God

-we will see those who die again

the world changes God’s people remain constant.

2016 April President Henry B. Eyring

-(*note: the opening prayer of this conference said we strive to be worthy to welcome in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ)

-Jesus Christ is in our midst. Call upon him while he is near.

-listen and pray while the choir sings and you’ll draw closer to the Savior and be blessed

-what you hear at conference is the word of God

-Jehovah is the son of Elohim, Jehovah is the creator, Jehovah is Jesus Christ. He lives today a God.

-This is the only true church

-I know Jesus Christ goes before his servants

2016 April Durham

-don’t let the things of the world keep you from spirituality

-spiritual education is best done in the home, like immersion to learn a language, thus they’ll not just learn words, but fluidity.

-live for having the spirit

2016 April Halstrom

-you can have what you want, or you can have something better said Holland

-a very spiritual congregation arrived early and sang How Firm a Foundation from memory even verse 7 which says Jesus CAN’T forsake who trust him.

-what happens with our knowing who we are: 1. we treat it casually 2. we ignore it 3. we forget it

2016 April Elder Stevenson

-like keys to get into a car, so are the Priesthood keys restored to Joseph Smith totally necessary for the church

-men have mandate to go on missions

-if you’re not yet temple age, you can still find your ancestors and submit them to the temple

-kneel to pray morning and night and study the scriptures daily, and you’ll have joy and find direction for your life for you’ll come to know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ thereby.

2016 April Duncan

-we all have in common that we will all be victim to misdeeds of others. We need not be a victim twice by carrying resentment or revenge; forgive and be free.

-like ointment softening the skin so a splinter comes out, so is the balm of the atonement.

-God will mete out the punishments that are fair for mercy cannot rob justice; let God do that; as for you, have peace.

-once seeing light and truth, terrible people can become wonderful people

-“We all have in our lives Saul-like people with Paul-like potential”

-to forgive is not to condone

-don’t allow someone to mistreat you because of their weaknesses

-don’t let religious or political differing views of others make you their enemy

-win or loose, be graceful. If you do, you’ll have such at the last day.

-we are the offender at times; you won’t be forgiven if you don’t forgive others.

-the remarkably short prayer of Jesus spoke of forgiveness; yes, Jesus even came for that reason, it’s a big principle and heals.

2016 April Snow

-some of the best sermons are taught by song

-a little bit of humility will go a long way

-very painful things do happen to very good people

-being a passionate educator is a good thing

-the brethren of the 12 would most oft sing “I need thee every hour” when they were in the temple  (reported Ballard)

The Lord my pasture will prepare

Elder Dale G. Renlund

-the greater the distance between the giver and receiver of welfare, the more entitled the receiver feels/develops into. Priority is on family giving to each other.

-Similarly, the further we are from God, the more we are proved to feel we deserve grace, and that things are not fair. Even small inequities will loom large. Laman and Lemuel saw their blessings as their due, and that they deserve more, and that Nephi’s blessings were “wrongs” towards them. This is entitlement.

-Laman and Lemual had “derisive skepticism”, saying God doesn’t answer questions, even when they never asked questions.

-Though absolutely innocent, the Savior suffered the most. The closer we are to Him the more we appreciate his grace and want to repent and become like him. We don’t want to

-because of the Atonement, ultimately, all can be made right, there will be no unfairness, and even we can get more than we ever earned or hoped for.

-Christ is made known unto us today as in the days of old, via the breaking of the bread (the sacrament)

-don’t wine

-like those on the road to Emaus, we will find that Christ has been with us the entire way.

2016 April Elder Ronald A. Rasband

-questions are an expression of a desire to add to those truths we already know, which added questions can help us press forward; this church even began with a question.

-casual sabbath is a threat

-religious freedom going away is a threat

-we are to fulfill God’s purposes on this earth

-are you standing with the leaders of the Church in a darkening world so you can share the light of Christ?

-all you give to others comes back to you

-reach out to others to prove that no one goes alone

-Peter boldly followed Christ on water or dry land; he walked on the water to go to Jesus; we should trust the leaders of the church even in unfamiliar places, for we cannot do it alone.

-we need the Savior now more than ever before

-we will frequently hear the calls of Jesus Christ in life. The calls can be come serve a mission, be baptized, etc. Eventually each one of us will hear the call, “come home.”

2016 April Elder Neal L. Andersen

-today twice as many children are born into unwed families than they were 50 years ago.

-children are ENTITLED to be born to married parents.

-when people read the Book of Mormon, they feel it is remembering things they had already known.

-teachings someone about the temple even once can give them a forever desire to go there.

-open your hands are hearts wider to the youth without two parents a mom and a dad in the Church.

-knowing someone’s name can make a difference.

-one less active youth came to church; he didn’t think the bishop knew him. The bishop saw him and smiled and reached out his hand and said ” (his name), it’s good to see you!” the lad then got a warm feeling in his heart and knew that in coming to church he had made the right choice.

-an example of taking in one without parents to live with you 4 years given.

-if you receive a needy child in the name of Christ, you receive Christ.

Now let us rejoice; another Millennium song!

2016 April Arnold

-a saintly person who understands how God wants none to be lost may visit more people than assigned, and more than once a month. When bed ridden near death, spending hours writing them letters.

-when you go to people, the Lord will take care of things.

-spending too much time deciding how to help the lost ones, and they’ll be lost forever. God will require them at our hand. Don’t deliberate about who will visit them or what approach to take.

-the strong in spirit are to take the weak with them that they pay be strong also.

-one man went in his business suit to the ocean to get a surfer into the church; the surfer became a 3 time bishop, and the youth in his ward, there were about 30, and about 20 of them were rescued back into the Church.

-one would share the gospel with each telemarketer who called

2016 April Mazzagardi

-a struggle asking which church is true, then a clear answer.

-he feels eternity had been parted into two parts, before, and after his sealing in the temple

2016 April Elder David A. Bednar

-being born again comes through the spirit through ordinances.

-the Holy Ghost cleanses us like a fire

-ordinances constitute organized channels wherein the power of God can flow into our lives; they’re not just rituals.

-baptism is the introductory ordinances, and must be preceded by faith and repentance. it is administered by the authority of the Aaronic Priesthood. It provides initial cleansing of our soul from sin. The parts of baptism are that we do the 3 things listed in the sacrament prayer, and the blessing is the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.

– the sacramental emblems are both blessed and sanctified, which is made holy, thus we become holy to be able to stand before God at the last day.

-Merely taking the sacrament does not remit sins, but careful preparation is needed.

-obtaining and always retaining a remission of our sins through gospel ordinances is the way it’s done; baptism is a point of departure, we should not want to visit it again, but to go forward; each successive ordinance elevates our spiritual purpose

2016 April Elder M. Russel Ballard

-Jesus Christ is the Lord of the Universe as put forth in scripture.

-do family councils with love; these are not with FHE and are for listening to each other.

-beware media bringing evil into our homes

-general council: all family members. make plans, support and strengthen each other, pray for one another and the family, speak of finances. Start with prayer or can be non-formal also. Prepared parents and listening participating children show the council is working. Understand the circumstances of each family member are considered. Family members may be very different from each other. Sometimes outside help is enlisted in the search for solutions for certain medical and emotional problems which family members may have.

-executive council: parents; speak of needs of the children, and of their relationship.

-limited council: parents and one child; speak of making decisions in advance about what they will or won’t do in the future; such decisions made may want to be recorded to be seen in the future; children here see concern of parents; a time for discussion of serious things like a lack of confidence, abuse, bullying or fear.

-1:1 council: one parent and one child; often informal; calendar these in advance, a special time they can look forward to.

-have a basket to deposit electronic devices

-family councils are like ward councils, and all should be involved so more can be accomplished. All are to e involved in dealing with challenges. When all feel they are contributing,

-expanded council: bringing in adult children and perhaps their children, and also perhaps grandparents. Skype, phone, FaceTime, these can help participation.

-room mates in an apartment can meet together regularly to discus things and pray. this would change

-Sunday, the first day of the week, can be a good day for this. Can be what is needed to make the Sabbath a delight.

-never retire, spouses, without kneeling together holding hands in prayer

-physical doors of our homes are now not enough because of media. The council system is how the Lord has designed to combat this.

-children desperately need a time where parents can listen to them, the council time is good for this.

-have prayer in these councils and our relationships with each other will improve. Also it will cause the Savior to be present, for thus we are gathered in the name of Christ, and thus he promised to be in the midst of them.

-pattern these after the council of heaven, filled with love and the Christlike spirit; this can protect our special time together

-these help us spot and root out family problems much more quickly, and give each family member a feeling of worth, and help us to be more happy in the precious relationships of our own homes.

2016 April President Russel M. Nelson

to bear is to hold the weight of something; we bear the Priesthood

-the very same Priesthood which we have is what God uses to create numberless worlds and to exalt his children.

-like an unplugged electronic device, the flow of power is blocked by sins like laziness pride immorality or preoccupation with things of the world.

-too many have done nothing to get this power

-too many have unclean thoughts and demean their wives which cuts off power

-many say by their conduct that they care more about their selfish interests than the power of the Priesthood to bless others.

-some may wake to regret that they spent too much time seeking power over others or power at work, but we should use power rightly.

-in a coming day only those who take Priesthood seriously by counseiing with God himself will be able to bring miracles to those he loves, and keep his marriage and family safe now and forever; to bless guide protect strengthen and heal others. You must pay the price for priesthood power for these things.

-faith virtue knowledge patience charity diligence humility brotherly kindness are what Peter who gave the Priesthood to Joseph Smith said we need for the divine nature.

-how would our neighbors friends coworkers etc, say we are doing on this?

to get more power you must be willing to pray to know how to pray for more power and he will teach you; you must also learn of prophets and in the temple where he loves to teach.

-imagine the increased priesthood power that could be yours.

-for decades, Monson has taken the long way home to stop at someones porch on the way home following promptings.

-to melt your wires heart let her find you studying the gospel

embrace both your wife and her council.

-be as interested in increasing Priesthood power as we are at increasing at work or increasing our bank account.

earthquakes in diverse places in the last days, one place could be in our own home, financial, emotional, etc. Priesthood power can calm these storms.

-fast worship and serve study as men of God to have this power

-we have a sacred trust: the authority of God to bless others.

-rise as a man of God whom you are foreordained to be

-be eager to pay whatever price needed to get this power do it

-this power allows us to prepare the world for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Oh come oh king of kings (another Millennium song!)

2016 April President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

-save your marriage, it’s a covenant

-you single people, don’t wait for a perfect person, such a person would not be interested in you if there was one.

-if it appears to take forever to get your marriage awesome, don’t worry, marriages are meant to last forever. You are laying the foundations for a great marriage.

-divorce rarely happens when people are happy, so be happy. Men, astonish your wife by doing things that make her happy.

-Abe Lincoln said most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. Indeed, the scripture says, seek and ye shall find.

-who save marriages save future generations

-work daily to make your marriage stronger

-there are no perfect families, every family needs saving

-families have rough times, like when one has a political view he thinks is the gospel view which opposes your view

-the families which survive are who council with each other

-what is right for one family may not be right for another; but one thing is: charity; without it, even great families struggle; without it, even struggling families do great

-pride exaggerates its own strength and ignores the virtues of others; it hides it’s own weaknesses behind excuses. It is opposite of charity, the primary characteristic of Satan. It has no place among the Priesthood holders.

-The way you treat your family may influence generations to come. Leave a legacy not of fear and hate, but of love and humility.

-for the sake of your family relationships and your soul, be merciful with them. This is a sign of strength.

-It’s more important to nurture an environment of love than to be right. Let love conquer pride. IF YOU DO THIS, WHATEVER ADVERSITY YOU ARE FACING WILL PASS.

-no matter your marital status we can all be saviors of families.

-love is to seek the welfare of others. That is the love our heavenly father has for us.

-have untiring efforts to be a savior.

2016 April President Henry B. Eyring

-this talk is to show the ways that the church will grow to fill the earth

-the great work of Priesthood holders is to help people to eternal life

-the great work of every man is to believe the gospel, create an eternal family, and help others to.

-all we do should be geared toward eternal marriage

-when one has faith, it brings the power of heaven to those around him

-deacons and priests have many duties in keeping the church going based on the D&C. Exhort others to eternal life and family life without offending. The only way to do that is to use the Holy Ghost. That happens as we testify of the Savior, whom is the perfect family member.

-the Jr. companion in home teaching can often be who penetrate the heart; they can pray for help in their message

-we bless children in church, but the real blessings are only available in the temples of God

-Elders give people the gift of hoping for eternal life

-it is wise council to make marriage a priority early after your mission

-the faithful servant will ensure that who he marries shares his views on marriage and sees his choice as the parent of their children to be; those children are entitled to the best parent that you can give them, clean parents. You owe your future children that blessing.

-treat your wife and children the way your Heavenly Father treats you. Only use persuasion, long suffering, gentleness, meekness, love unfeigned, kindness, pure knowledge, no guile or hypocrisy, reprove at times with sharpness but then extra love

-the most important work for God you’ll do is in your home. In your home, the small acts will be the most important. They will bring everlasting blessings in eternity.

-we will have an endless posterity, a supernal blessing, if we live the gospel.

2016 April President Thomas S. Monson

-much is expected of those who bear the priesthood

-think of what God wants you to become as you think of what choices to make

-wherever you are, your priesthood goes with you

-several were shot down in planes in WW2, a rescuer boat after 3 days of floating on the water, and rescue boats passing them down, the thought came to him “you hold the priesthood, command the vessel to go pick you up” he did so. He said “by the priesthood I command this vessel to turn around and get us” it did.

Redeemer of Israel (speaks of how long we have waited, and that soon we will be free!)

He Shall Purify the sons of Levi. Another Millennium song!

Let Zion in her beauty rise

The Morning Breaks: The Zion’s light is bursting forth to bring the ransomed children home!

Strengthen President Monson to give his speech even as King Benjamin in days of old.

I will follow Gods plan

2016 April President Thomas S. Monson

-there were only 12 temples about 50 years ago, now there are 150.

-the door of history turns on small hinges, so do peoples lives.

-maintain the courage to defy the consensus

-choose the harder right rather than the easier wrong

-if we choose Christ we will have made the correct choice.

Sunshine in your heart

2016 April Oscarson

-to believe we need to get the gospel from our heads into our hearts, not just living it from culture or habit

-conversion comes when we search the scriptures rather than the internet. it takes consistency and daily effort.

-the greatest pressure the youth have today is the ever present presence of the great and spacious building, those taunting fingers etc.

-the safest is when one has attained the gospel, then is ashamed because of those dressed in nice clothes’ mockery. Then they fall to forbidden paths and are lost.

-we don’t need to search through the philosophies of the world to get comfort and success, we already have those tools.

-being a member of this the Lords kingdom is a blessing of immense value

-the righteous have more blessing coming to them than they can imagine

-only the temple can seal your family forever

2016 April Waddell

-all must experience sorrow

-peace is not based on our ability to avoid trials, but our ability to think of Jesus, even though we may not understand all the doctrines of the church at times. Jesu said “in me ye might have peace”

-only the temple can seal your family forever; it’s the house of the Lord with Jesus’ authority

-in the temple there is a peace you’ll feel nowhere else.

-those who CHOOSE to listen to the current day prophets in this church, find safety and peace.

-there are more mockers today than ever before

-listening to the LDS prophets is how we stand in holy places and be not moved

-we must ignore mockers; they will fall.

-the Savior’s reach is as individual as it is infinite

-the pattern of Jesus’ life is what we follow to make it easy to think about Jesus

2016 April D. Todd Christofferson

-fatherhood is a most masculine role

-man should put his family first

-fathers are to help their wives as an equal partner; they are indispensable;

-the key for men is to be fathers

-the key for children is to have fathers

-the key for society is to have men be fathers

-incomparable satisfaction and joy come from begin a father

-fathers lead out in making teaching of children a high priority

-listening working and playing together are important elements in teaching

-in discipline take particular care, lest you come near abuse which is never justified.

-discipline is not so much about punishing as it is about helping one go toward self mastery

-breadwinning is the essence of being a good father; this domain overlaps time at home; but we aren’t to be over involved in our career, or have feeding them into the hands of another

-Joseph, husband of Mary, was a foster father.

-disability may necessitate a need for a shift in providing, if we just can’t provide well because of disability in the family, there can be a temporary system to help you.

-bring purity to your family

-school is important for the skills to provide for the family

-think first of the happiness and wellbeing of others, not just that of yourself.

-his dad each morning would tuck the covers around his son; his dad would pray for him as he stood beside his bed with all energy and focus; since he could not be with him all day he would pray for the people and teachers that his son would be with that day;

-he with his wife also prayed in his sleeping children’s’ rooms for the webbing of their children

2016 April Elder Quinton L. Cook

-there will be 177 temples when all announced temples are dedicated.

-until you’ve gone to the House of the Lord (the temple) and received all the ordinances there, you haven’t received all the blessings the church has for you.

-increased number of temples and technology to do genealogy makes this the most blessed time in all history. As you are involved in this you are literally among the number of those prophecies to be Saviors on Mt Zion.

-originally temple recommends were signed by those in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to ensure cleanliness. But you can enter if you repent. You must be willing to forgive yourself.

-the temple is to help us experience the ministering of the Holy Ghost.

-the Lord organizes eternal families only in temples

-ordinances in the temples of God allow us to return to the presence of God

-the temple mirrors in the sealing rooms remind us of our forefathers

-study D&C 109

-make the temple the standard of our membership

-when doing genealogy we often feel promptings of the Holy Ghost

-sometimes in the temple the veil between us and those who have gone before becomes very thin.

-never underestimate the assistance from those on the others side of the veil to assist in temple work

-one person reported seeing a face in the temple mirrors of a person who was not physically in the room; twas of one who was being sealed for the dead that day

-while the Fiji temple was being dedicated, the city was burned and martial law declared and country leaders taken captive by rebels; the temple dedication was in private; they said don’t do anything outside, but Pres. Hinckley insisted on doing the cornerstone ceremony for Jesus Christ is the cornerstone.

-make any necessary changes to see yourselves in the temple

2016 April President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

-cities built in 1000 years can be destroyed in 1 day

-men can rebuild a city. Oh how much more God can rebuild man!

-except the rare son of Perdition, there is no life so shattered that it cannot be rebuilt.

-condemning ridiculing and shaming people is not the way to help people repent. Rather, it’s like a lost sheep whom we go after. Yes, we spend time with the sinners.

-the seeking the Lost sheep parable is not primarily a call for us to go rescue, no, it’s about God helping people. His knowledge of them and power to help them.

-The lost sheep is worthy of help merely because it is loved.

-because God loves you his child, HE WILL FIND YOU.

-He will be able to say to one and all, rejoice with me, for the lost has been found.

-but God will not rescue anyone against their will.

-draw near to God and he will to you; this is how we show God we want to be rescued

-if you can’t muster faith, muster hope. Desire. Then in time you’ll grow into the other stuff.

-steps of faith are called obedience. Not a popular word these days.

-as we increase in faith, we must also increase in faithfulness.

-there is nothing good unless you do it.

-we can have fancy religious discussions, but if our faith doesn’t change our lives it’s pretty well dead.

-obedience is a means to an end, not an end itself.

-obedience is the process by which we discover what we truly are made of. We are literally created of and children of God. We carry the substance of divinity.

-all the stain of the world though it makes it hard for us to remember who we are, doesn’t change who we are.

-as we obey God, eventually our desire for sin goes away, and the stain of this earth starts to go away, and the divine being within us is revealed, and the radiance of goodness becomes our nature.

-God sees us all as worthy of rescue.

-trust that God your loving creator can and will rebuild you into something much better; you can reach infinite joy; this is what you were designed to become.

2016 April Elder Robert D. Hales

-the light of Christ is in and through all things

-the Holy Ghost speaks to us on matters of consequence, gently.

-faithfulness and obedience protect us from being deceived

-pray to Heavenly Father, listen to the Holy Ghost, follow it’s promptings, and all will be well.

-The Holy Ghost told him to stay and shake hands after a meeting and he did and thought to speak to one lad and he did, and said  “pray to Heavenly Father, listen to the Holy Ghost, follow it’s promptings, and all will be well. ” and later found that lad had recently come home early from a mission and was dismayed, and was promised by a church leader that Hales would speak to him at that meeting.

2016 April Gong

-400 scripture references to the word remember

-confidence in his promises and covenants is a way we can always remember Jesus

-the earth shall tremble with joy

-we live life forward but understand it backward

-not being tall for basketball, he tried soccer and was better at that.

-God doesn’t want us to always think of our shortcomings

-God knows all the bad of us we don’t want others to know of us, and yet loves us.

-remember the atonement, and you can have strength to forgive.

-when you need to know what to hold and what to let go, remember Christ.

-at criticism take it.

-when you are ready, please open the book of Mormon again for the first time. Pray again with real intent for the first time.

-there is no point of no return with God.

-in the sacrament we witness to God the Father that we are willing to take upon us the name of Christ.

-when we help the needy, we are remembering Jesus.

-when we pray over our things, we are remembering Jesus.

-Jesus draws each of us BY NAME to Him.

2016 April Kearon

-60 million refugees today; half of them are children.

-1.5 million arrived in Europe over the last year from war torn Africa. They come with only what they wear. Many of them are well educated and had to leave jobs.

-the Church is working with 75 agencies to help the refugees.

-what if the story of the refugee were mine? Such it was for the LDS

-this talk is not to influence policy

-Jesus was a refugee, fleeing Herod as a babe, and later fleeing from those who plotted his death.

-true religion is to visit the widow and fatherless in their affliction and administer to the relief of the needy.

-the Church has provided much for the refugees

-one help is to learn the language of a person you host as a refugee

-the reality of these situations must be seen to be believed

-one university professor feared she would not have anywhere but  large hall she was staying at to have her child

-don’t let the news of the refuges becomes common to you

-don’t serve at the expense of families and other responsibilities

-don’t expect leaders to structure all the service projects

-program “I was a stranger” is a way to help; many ideas; see

-also pray for how to help

-increase awareness of world events that cause refugee situations; be tolerant

-the stakes of Zion are a refuge, we must come out from our safe places and see beyond cultural differentces.

-being a refugee may define a part of their life but it doesn’t define them; our response will define us.

Guide us now oh great Jehovah (bring the welcome day! the earth shall tremble! The Lord shall destroy, keep us safe!

2016 April Elder Dallin H. Oaks

-Satan proposed a way to carry out the fathers plan in a way that would not accomplish the Father’s purpose. There would be on inequality or failure or growth. Satan’s purpose was to get the Father’s honor and power. Satan in opposing Gods plan facilitated it for we need opposition.

-Joseph Smith tried 5 times until he was able to get the Book of Mormon published. Accomplishing divine purposes is not easy, but it is possible.

-don’t violate the Sabbath

-in the last days Satan does these: 1. stir up people against what is good 2. tell us Zion is fine 3. tell us there is no devil or hell or right or wrong

-as we grow in obedience, Satan increases his waring against us so we will continue to have opposition in all things.

-you can’t claim loyal opposition in Gods kingdom; questions are fine here, opposition is not.

-there is opposition in Church History; we can’t get all answers by study of that; we need faith to get answers.

-God does help us be strong to bear disasters; other times God blunts the effect of terrorism LIKE HE DID IN  Brussels airport bomb which killed many, but only injured our 4 missionaries involved!

2016 April Richards

-we need the temple more than anything else in these trying times

-all the things the Church does is to get people to the altar of the temple to kneel and be blessed.

-feel as much interested in the temple work as though it all depended on you

-all ages, help in the temple; active service of all ages, tis time

– the young people need the temple service more than even the older people

-this is worth all the sacrifice; no sacrifice to great; temple blessings are priceless

-what are these who are arrayed in white? You are they, temple goers.

2016 April Johnson

-we are spirit children of heavenly parents.

-no pain in the Resurrection

-spirit and body immortal are needed for our destiny; without this we would be miserable forever; spirits see separation from body as captivity; there is no salvation without both our spirit and our body

-there is a cure to all ailments, and Jesus Christ has already performed it in the resurrection!

-the resurrection proves that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that what he said was true. “He is risen as he said”

Beautiful bright Millennial day!

-be in Sunday best dress for conference

-conference music is incomparable

-it’s inevitable that after heavenly moments we return to our mortal lives were things aren’t as great. A great fight of affliction after illumination.

-in the very hour that Jehovah told Moses that the people should make no image nor god before him, the Israelites were making a golden calf.

-Similarly Jesus after transfiguration had to settle disputes among the disciples, pay taxes, unsuccessfully relate to the disciples that he would be taken and killed soon. He then said oh faithless generation how long… he longed for mountain tops.

-don’t be cast down or giving up when we see weakness in ourselves and others

-conference is to give hope not to make sad.

-Lucifer can’t improve or progress, or ever have a bright tomorrow, so he tells you you can’t progress, or that things said in conference are beyond our reach.

-because of Jesus, we can succeed

-in the gospel, the great thing is that we get credit for trying even if we don’t succeed

-the blessings are for who obey “and for they who seeketh so to do”. Sometimes that’s all we can offer.

-the Lord blesses those who WANT to improve. Who accept the need for commandments, and try at it.

-if you fall, call out like Alma oh Jesus have mercy on me. He will help you get up and fix what’s needed and keep going. Soon enough, you’ll have the success you seek.

-“As you desire of me, so shall it be done unto you” the Lord has declared

-follow Jesus and try and you’ll get as your heart wants

-to qualify for blessings we must allow them to others; never pride or self-righteousness; only humility and righteous judgement.

-the first great commandment of all eternity is to love God with all might mind and strength; but the first truth of eternity is that God loves us with all might mind and strength. Only knowing this can we have the confidence to try.

-God will never desert us, he never has and never will, he can’t, it’s not his character. He will always stand by us.

-we can escape the consequences of both sin and stupidity from ourselves and others if we give our heart to God; then tomorrow and every other day is ultimately going to be magnificent. Why? Because Heavenly Father wants it to be. The plan of God is predicated on how all works together for  good to them that love God. Heaven is cheering you on today tomorrow and forever.

-God gives power to the faint, increases strength.

-remember tomorrow how we felt today

-Gods love will be with us especially when we struggle.

-“Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow, the Lord will do wonders among you.” said Joshua when they faced a daunting task. This is hope for who see the standards of the Church too high.

2016 October President Russel M. Nelson

about Joy:

-Saints could be happy under every circumstance. Pioneers reported fun song and dance even in cold and destitute times, saying that passers by might label them as pleasure seekers.

-Jesus Christ is joy

-As Jesus becomes more real to us, we will get more joy

-Jesus endured the cross by the joy that was set before him. He focused on joy to be able to endure the hardest thing.

-Joy can motivate us to confess sin, and overcome the natural man which we’ve let overtake us too often.

-The unrighteous will experience many things, but NEVER JOY.

2017 April Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

-Jesus will show face after the gospel has reached everywhere

2017 October Halek

-“A man can live in the dark for a period, but there will come a time when he will long to come into the light.” -Elder Halek, Conf. Report Oct 2017

2017 October Elder Dallin H. Oaks

-Father’s ultimate desire for His children is what President Monson called “eternal life in the kingdom of God,” which is exaltation in families. This is more than salvation. President Russell M. Nelson has reminded us, “In God’s eternal plan, salvation is an individual matter; [but] exaltation is a family matter.”2

-Even as we must live with the marriage laws and other traditions of a declining world, those who strive for exaltation must make personal choices in family life according to the Lord’s way whenever that differs from the world’s way.

-We grow and mature spiritually by choosing to obey God’s commandments in a succession of right choices. These include covenants and ordinances and repentance when our choices are wrong. In contrast, if we lack faith in God’s plan and are disobedient to or deliberately refrain from its required actions, we forgo that growth and maturity.

-Saints have distinctive priorities and practices and are blessed with the strength to endure the frustrations and pains of mortal life.

-Inevitably, the actions of those who try to follow God’s plan of salvation can cause misunderstanding or even conflict with family members or friends who do not believe its principles. Such conflict is always so. Every generation that has sought to follow God’s plan has had challenges.

-Just 20 years after the family proclamation, the United States Supreme Court authorized same-sex marriage, overturning thousands of years of marriage being limited to a man and a woman. The shocking percentage of United States children born to a mother not married to the father came more gradually: 5 percent in 1960,5 32 percent in 1995,6 and now 40 percent.7

– the proclamation on the family was announced by the President of the Church, Gordon B. Hinckley. In the women’s meeting of September 23, 1995, he introduced the proclamation with these words: “With so much of sophistry that is passed off as truth, with so much of deception concerning standards and values, with so much of allurement and enticement to take on the slow stain of the world, we have felt to warn and forewarn.”9

-Forty years ago, President Ezra Taft Benson taught that “every generation has its tests and its chance to stand and prove itself.”10 I believe our attitude toward and use of the family proclamation is one of those tests for this generation.

2017 October President Dieter F. Uchtdorf “Three Sisters”

-The first sister saw herself as a victim—as someone who was acted upon.1 It seemed like one thing after another kept happening to her that made her miserable. With this approach to life, she was giving others control over how she felt and behaved. When we do this, we are driven about by every wind of opinion—and in this day of ever-present social media, those winds blow at hurricane intensity. Dear sisters, why should you surrender your happiness to someone, or a group of someones, who cares very little about you or your -happiness?

-Of course, we must always stand for what is right, and there are times when we must raise our voices for that cause. However, when we do so with anger or hate in our hearts—when we lash out at others to hurt, shame, or silence them—chances are we are not doing so in righteousness.

-As part of the study, researchers interviewed Palestinians and Israelis in the Middle East, and Republicans and Democrats in the United States. They discovered that “each side felt their own group [was] motivated by love more than hate, but when asked why their rival group [was] involved in the conflict, [they] pointed to hate as [the other] group’s motivating factor.”3 In other words, each group thought of themselves as the “good guys”—fair, kind, and truthful. By contrast, they saw their rivals as the “bad guys”—uninformed, dishonest, even evil.

-Their words are meaningless compared to what God has said about you.

-And when anyone tries to make you ashamed for partaking of the love of God, ignore them.

-The promises of praise and acceptance by the world are unreliable, untrue, and unsatisfying. God’s promises are sure, true, and joyful—now and forever.

– if the path becomes difficult for you, I hope you will find refuge and strength in our wonderful organizations of the Church

You cannot allow circumstances to make you sad. You cannot allow them to make you mad. You can rejoice

2017 October Elder Ardern of the Seventy

-Elder Robert D. Hales taught us, “Unless you are fully engaged in living the gospel—living it with all of your ‘heart, might, mind and strength’—you cannot generate enough spiritual light to push back the darkness” (“Out of Darkness into His Marvelous Light,” Ensign, May 2002, 71; Liahona, July 2002, 78).

2017 October Elder Ronald A. Rasband

-“Elder Neal A. Maxwell once explained: “None of us ever fully utilizes the people-opportunities allocated to us within our circles of friendship. You and I may call these intersectings ‘coincidence.’ This word is understandable for mortals to use, but coincidence is not an appropriate word to describe the workings of an omniscient God. He does not do things by ‘coincidence’ but … by ‘divine design.’” (Neal A. Maxwell, “Brim with Joy” (Brigham Young University devotional, Jan. 23, 1996), 2,”

-“Our lives are like a chessboard, and the Lord moves us from one place to another—if we are responsive to spiritual promptings. ”

-“Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin spoke of an occasion when President Thomas S. Monson said to him: “There is a guiding hand above all things. Often when things happen, it’s not by accident. One day, when we look back at the seeming coincidences of our lives, we will realize that perhaps they weren’t so coincidental after all.”” (Joseph B. Wirthlin, “Lessons Learned in the Journey of Life,” Ensign, Dec. 2000, 9; Liahona, May 2001, 38; taken from a talk given by Elder Wirthlin at a Church Educational System fireside at Brigham Young University, Nov. 7, 1999.)

-““I came into the world to do the will of [the] Father,”9Jesus taught. Dear brothers and sisters, so have we.”

-“The Lord is in the small details of our lives, and those incidents and opportunities are to prepare us to lift our families and others as we build the kingdom of God on earth. Remember, as the Lord said to Abraham, “I know the end from the beginning; therefore my hand shall be over thee.”(Abraham 2:8)”

-” I realize I did not orchestrate any of those moves; the Lord did, just as He is orchestrating important moves for you and for those you love.”

-“What are God’s miracles that remind you that He is close, saying, “I am right here”? Think of those times, some daily”

-Sometimes we consider changes in our plans as missteps on our journey. Think of them more as first steps to being “on the Lord’s errand.”

-“The Lord loves to be with us. It is no coincidence that when you are feeling His Spirit and acting on first promptings that you feel Him”

-“Now, where does our agency fit in a “divine design”? We have a choice to follow or to not follow our Savior and His chosen leaders.”

-“Not all that the Lord asks of us is a result of how strong we are, how faithful we are, or what we may know. Think of Saul, whom the Lord stopped on the road to Damascus”

-“Now, where does our agency fit in a “divine design”? We have a choice to follow or to not follow our Savior and His chosen leaders. The pattern is clear in the Book of Mormon when the Nephites had turned away from the Lord. Mormon lamented: “And they saw … that the Spirit of the Lord did no more preserve them; yea, it had withdrawn from them because the Spirit of the Lord doth not dwell in unholy temples—Therefore the Lord did cease to preserve them by his miraculous and matchless power, for they had fallen into a state of unbelief and awful wickedness.”(Helaman 4:24–25) Not all that the Lord asks of us is a result of how strong we are, how faithful we are, or what we may know. Think of Saul, whom the Lord stopped on the road to Damascus. ”

-“When we are righteous, willing, and able, when we are striving to be worthy and qualified, we progress to places we never imagined and become part of Heavenly Father’s “divine design.” Each of us has divinity within us. ”

-” When our Father in Heaven said, “This is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man,”(Moses 1:39) He was talking about all of His children—you in particular.”

2017 October Elder D. Todd Christofferson

-We know that “when [we] are in the service of [our] fellow beings [we] are only in the service of [our] God.”29 And the Lord reminds us that such service is central to His life and character: “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”30 President Marion G. Romney wisely explained: “Service is not something we endure on this earth so we can earn the right to live in the celestial kingdom. Service is the very fiber of which an exalted life in the celestial kingdom is made.”31

-Zechariah prophesied that in the day of the Lord’s millennial reign, even the bells of the horses would bear the inscription “Holiness unto the Lord.”32 In that spirit, the pioneer Saints in these valleys affixed that reminder, “Holiness to the Lord,” on seemingly common or mundane things as well as those more directly associated with religious practice. It was inscribed on sacrament cups and plates and printed on certificates of ordination of Seventies and on a Relief Society banner. “Holiness to the Lord” also appeared over the display windows of Zion’s Cooperative Mercantile Institution, the ZCMI department store. It was found on the head of a hammer and on a drum. “Holiness to the Lord” was cast on the metal doorknobs of President Brigham Young’s home. These references to holiness in seemingly unusual or unexpected places may seem incongruous, but they suggest just how pervasive and constant our focus on holiness needs to be.

-Not long ago, a friend recounted to me an experience he had while serving as a mission president. He had undergone a surgery that required several weeks of recuperation. During his recovery, he devoted time to searching the scriptures. One afternoon as he pondered the Savior’s words in the 27th chapter of 3 Nephi, he drifted off to sleep. He subsequently related:

“I fell into a dream in which I was given a vivid, panoramic view of my life. I was shown my sins, poor choices, the times … I had treated people with impatience, plus the omissions of good things I should have said or done. … [A] comprehensive … [review of] my life was shown to me in just a few minutes, but it seemed much longer. I awoke, startled, and … instantly dropped to my knees beside the bed and began to pray, to plead for forgiveness, pouring out the feelings of my heart like I had never done previously.

“Prior to the dream, I didn’t know that I [had] such great need to repent. My faults and weaknesses suddenly became so plainly clear to me that the gap between the person I was and the holiness and goodness of God seemed [like] millions of miles. In my prayer that late afternoon, I expressed my deepest gratitude to Heavenly Father and to the Savior with my whole heart for what They had done for me and for the relationships I treasured with my wife and children. While on my knees I also felt God’s love and mercy that was so palpable, despite my feeling so unworthy. …

“I can say I haven’t been the same since that day. … My heart changed. … What followed is that I developed more empathy toward others, with a greater capacity to love, coupled with a sense of urgency to preach the gospel. … I could relate to the messages of faith, hope, and the gift of repentance found in the Book of Mormon [as] never before.”19

-This is the larger meaning of repentance: not only a turning away from past sin but also “a turning of the heart and will to God”33 going forward. As happened with my friend in his revelatory dream, God will show us our flaws and failings, but He will also help us turn weakness into strength.34 If we sincerely ask, “What lack I yet?”35 He will not leave us to guess, but in love He will answer for the sake of our happiness. And He will give us hope.

It is a consuming endeavor, and it would be terribly daunting if in our striving for holiness we were alone. The glorious truth is we are not alone. We have the love of God, the grace of Christ, the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the fellowship and encouragement of fellow Saints in the body of Christ. Let us not be content with where we are, but neither let us be discouraged. As a simple but thoughtful hymn urges us:

Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;

spend much time in secret with Jesus alone.

By looking to Jesus, like him thou shalt be;

thy friends in thy conduct his likeness shall see.36

2018 April President Dallin H. Oaks

– “We are surrounded by media influences and cultural deteriorations that will carry us downstream in our values if we are not continually resisting. To move upstream toward our eternal goal, we must constantly keep paddling. It helps if we are part of a team that is paddling together, like a rowing crew in action. To extend that example even further, the cultural currents are so strong that if we ever stop paddling, we will be carried downstream toward a destination we do not seek but which becomes inevitable if we do not constantly try to move forward.

2018 April President Henry B. Eyring

-“I know those things by the only way any of us can know them. The Holy Ghost has spoken to my mind and heart that they are true—not just once but often. I have needed that continuing comfort.

-“We stooped to enter. We saw a stone bench against a wall. But into my mind came another picture, as real as what we saw that day. It was of Mary, who was left by the Apostles at the tomb. That is what the Spirit let me see and even hear in my mind, as clearly as if I had been there

-“More precious than a memory of events is the memory of the Holy Ghost touching our hearts and His continuing affirmation of truth. More precious than seeing with our eyes or remembering words spoken and read is recalling the feelings that accompanied the quiet voice of the Spirit.

-“The Prophet Joseph set an example for us of how to receive continual spiritual direction and comfort through the Holy Ghost. The first choice he made was to be humble before God. The second was to pray with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The third was to obey exactly. Obedience may mean to move quickly. It may mean to prepare. Or it may mean to wait in patience for further inspiration. And the fourth is to pray to know the needs and hearts of others and how to help them for the Lord. Joseph prayed for the Saints in distress when he was in prison.

-“My bishop once said to me—at a time when my wife was under great strain in her own life—“Every time I hear of someone in the ward who needs help, when I get there to help, I find that your wife was there ahead of me. How does she do that?”

2018 April President Russel M. Nelson

As Elder Neal A. Maxwell taught, “To those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, it is clear that the Father and the Son are giving away the secrets of the universe!”

Pray in the name of Jesus Christ about your concerns, your fears, your weaknesses—yes, the very longings of your heart. And then listen! Write the thoughts that come to your mind. Record your feelings and follow through with actions that you are prompted to take. As you repeat this process day after day, month after month, year after year, you will “grow into the principle of revelation.”

As I came to understand the Word of Wisdom, I wanted my parents to live that law. So, one day when I was very young, I went to our basement and smashed on the concrete floor every bottle of liquor! I expected my father to punish me, but he never said a word.

One of the things the Spirit has repeatedly impressed upon my mind since my new calling as President of the Church is how willing the Lord is to reveal His mind and will. The privilege of receiving revelation is one of the greatest gifts of God to His children.

Through the manifestations of the Holy Ghost, the Lord will assist us in all our righteous pursuits. I remember in an operating room, I have stood over a patient—unsure how to perform an unprecedented procedure—and experienced the Holy Ghost diagramming the technique in my mind.

2018 October President Russel M Nelson

-parents are the ones primarily responsible for the teaching of their children.

-the church needs to be supporting the home, not a separate thing that we do once a week.

2018 October Elder Quinton L Cook of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles

-less time at church means we must do more time studying the gospel at home

-it is appropriate for informal groups to meet on Sundays to study the gospel. You can even do this at the church.

-help members know what the lesson will be at church before hand via a mid week invitation. Take care of most announcements etc thereby also so the meeting can be spiritually focused

-Sabbath can be delightful as we do family planning meeting, family gospel study, and family fun.

-the new come follow me home based program is helping people move from reading the scriptures to actually studying them

2018 October Joseph Brough of the Seventy

-we ask why we must go through hard things, but that doesn’t take away the hard thing

-one young woman was called on a mission; she didn’t want to go, but she knew the Lord wanted her to go, so she went

2018 October Steven Bangerter of the Seventy

-set forth expectations for your children which are inspired by the gospel

-establish family traditions that teach the doctrine of Christ

-father, have interviews with your children

2018 October Elder Ronald A Rasband of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles

-fear isn’t a few thing

-President Nelson has taught that in coming days it will not be possible to survive without the guiding and comforting influence of the Holy Ghost. The last days will be hard, but their coming shows us that promises shall be fulfilled.

-the spirit can help us solve fears, or give us the peace to set fear aside.

-we can be more charitable as we know that the future will be ok as we trust in God

-to be able to handle troubles others will bring us we must learn to receive revelation

-when we stand with the Lord and for his principles, we stand on holy ground.

2018 October Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles

-Pharisaical checklists can distract us from the Lord

-we must discern and apply the interrelatedness of the doctrines of the gospel; this is how we can successfully endure to the end

-article of faith 4 are items that combine like a rope to bring all things together in Christ

-now as the church is so large we gather now to our local stakes and temples and our home for worship

-gathering locally, helping each other, family centeredness, sabbath worship emphasis, church worship schedule convenience, more small temples, priesthood quorums being strengthened, these aren’t isolated events, but coordinate into a robe as a united work.

2018 October Elder Dallin H Oaks of the First Presidency

-beware of anonymous sources, entertainment sources, and experts speaking on fields other than their field of expertise. Seek qualified sources which are free from selfish motivation.

-many have issues in faith because of secular things not because of what they see, but because of what they cannot see.

-when people only pursue secular learning, this is dangerous

-truths of where we go after death and why we are on earth cannot be learned in secular methods

-the purpose of the church is to prepare us for exaltation and eternal glory. For those who do not desire or qualify for that God has prepared other glories. Only a few who deliberately chose perdition will have no glory.

-the church is seen as a family church, but its not recognized so much in its other family aspect which is family relationships after death which can continue.

-life is sacred we oppose abortion and euthanasia.

-exaltation is only for those who enter marriage between man and wife. We don’t homogenize gender and confuse the differences between man and woman.

-bearing and nurturing children is a joyful part of Gods plan, our treasures on earth and heaven are our posterity. We seek conditions which are best for children.

-Satan seeks to confuse gender, distort marriage, and discourage childbearing, especially by parents who will raise children in truth.

-don’t be among those who would try to change the church rather than change themselves

-what we know in this church always trumps what we do not know

-keeping covenants opens the door to every spiritual blessing

-our missionary efforts and humanitarian efforts reflect our desire to share everything we have with everyone on earth

2018 October Elder D Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles

-Elijah told people that if the Lord is God, worship him. Today he would say that if Joseph Smith was a prophet and received the keys which I Elijah bestowed upon him, then sustain him.

-the gospel must not just be a part of your life, but the defining focus of your life

-some members are selective about the doctrines they’ll follow, and selective about where and when they will serve in the church.

-there is a continuum: social church membership, and Christlike church membership.

-the testimony of the spirit is real

-always remember the promises of things to come both now and in the hereafter

2018 October Dean M Davies of the Presiding Bishopric

-make your life beautiful, majestic, and resistant to the world

2018 October Elder Ulises Soares of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles

-the amazon river in Brazil is made of 2 rivers that eventually merge into 1. For a while, the 2 rivers run side by side, touching but not mixing, because of their unique origins temperatures and chemical compositions. Once they’ve mixed, they are a very powerful river that pushes the ocean further back so freshwater may be enjoyed for a long way into the ocean. So it is with helping new members in the church. We need them just as much as they need us to become a mighty force in the world.

-invite new friends in the church to help you serve others in informal settings

-reach out to new friends in the church in their own homes and invite them to ours

-continue flowing in righteousness in this river of goodness toward eternal life

-don’t let your church assignments get in the way of welcoming new friends at church meetings and activities

2018 October Elder Garrit W Gong of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles

-Elder Scott invited Elder Gong to do waterpainting with him he said that we should attempt to be creative even if the product is modest…if you chose wisely it doesn’t have to involve a lot of time. Creating helps us be greatful.  (seek full quote). Elder Scott told him that even 1 lesson can leave you with a creation which you will desire to keep.

-the perfectionism of the world is different from the expectations of God

2018 October Paul B Pieper of the Seventy

-we take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ, taking is not a passive thing. Take can mean partake or receive into the body. We take his teachings characteristics and love deep into our beings so they become part of who we are.

-taking upon us the name of Christ isn’t confining and limiting but rather it enlarges and empowers.

-just as we take Christ’s name upon us, he takes our sins and sorrows upon him.

-the day will come that we will be with Christ and will have become like him.

2018 October Elder Deiter F Uchdorf of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles

-Soloman had it all and lived in luxury and ended up very sad and pessimistic. He was wrong, life is not vanity.

-we find joy in forgetting ourselves and engaging in the great cause of Christ

-Jesus walked among the poor outcast ashamed and friendless. He spent time with them, spoke with them, and healed them. He taught the gospel everywhere.

-Believe, love, and endure. These 3 are the cure.

-faith isn’t like a painting we look at and theorize about, it’s like a plow that we take into the field and work with

-the more we love God’s children, the happier we become

-loving God’s children isn’t about saying “let me know if there’s anything I can do” it’s about endless compassion. This enables us to more clearly see others for who they are: infinite in potencial and worth. With this lense we can’t disregard or discriminate against anyone.

-the church is a place for us to practice living the way Christ did, blessing others the way Christ did.

-ministering is loving and serving others

-church members are some of the best people on earth. Yes the do mess up, but they’re trying to get it right. They want to be better.

2018 October M. Russel Ballard, President of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles

-Joseph F Smith’s mother died when he was 13(?), he went on a mission from age 15-18, married and went on 2 more missions, was called as an Apostle at age 27, and had a young daughter die. He saw hundreds of thousands die in the war. He received the vision on the spirit world where he saw his father Hyrum Smith and his uncle Joseph Smith.

2018 October Elder Robert Gay of the Seventy

-Heavenly Father’s love is unfathomable, it doesn’t look on the human race with spite, he doesn’t see us as bad or inactive, but as people with hard trials. Some criticize and condemn, not Heavenly Father.

-see as God sees, and we get a double victory: save ourselves and others

-*Elder James E Talmage before called to be an Apostle when we was a college professor, he heard of neighbors, not in the church, who were going through the disease common of that time. He without hesitation went there to them, helped care for their dead, held their little  ones who coughed mucus into his face, cleaned their home burning rags covered in the disease and so forth. He left and disposed of  his clothing and washed in a zinc solution, and put himself in quarantine wherein he suffered the disease himself for a time.
