“I’m a strict disciplinarian in order to get kids to develop self control, and then switch to disciplining according to their violation of the promptings conscience. That teaches them how to be self-governing. But you can’t expect kids to listen to the still small voice of conscience unless they have strong self-control skills—and on the toughening of parental discpline (justly admininistered) develops toughness and self control.”
