Morgan Philpot Interview with Latter-day Disciples, on Shifting our Focus to God’s Ways Socially: Unholy Utah Politics, Belief in the Lord’s Eminent Return, & a Book of Mormon 2020 Parallel – Interview Highlights

Note- these are my highlights of the lecture and I may have gotten something wrong here or there, be sure the visit the full lecture to get the full scoop (https://youtu.be/1zFa8qmQjBk?si=Twzj_XTz8ox3xTue). I love how this guy shamelessly rebukes the way we have strayed from doing things like politics and finance the Lord’s way, to just embracing the way of Babylon. I also love his focus on scripture.

I’ve divided this into 3 sections:

  1. On Corrupt Utah Politics of the Saints
  2. On the Lord’s Soon Return: Do We Believe & Act Accordingly?
  3. A Book of Mormon Parallel with the 2020 Covid Tyranny:

  1. On Corrupt Utah Politics of the Saints

It’s not by politics that we save the world.

Marx wanted us to just talk politics, never theology. He wanted us to reject everything spiritual and just focus on temporal things.

In Utah we are God’s people doing things God’s way, but we’re doing things just like everyone else; we don’t talk about how we’re going to stand for Christ and God’s law when we’re running for office because we know we wouldn’t get elected, we just try to be popular and appeal to everyone. We don’t believe in prosecuting adultery.

Book of Mormon politicians who were corrupt taught that politicians should not labor with their own hands, but should be supported by the people.

We send our kids to public schools where if any of their teachers talk about their faith in God the teacher gets fired, they are schools where God and God’s law is completely outlawed. Why do we pay for a public school system which is Antichrist on its face? By The Book of Mormon standards, the public education system is Antichrist, notwithstanding the various good teachers in the system, whose hands are tied when it comes to faith and pointing students toward God’s law.

Is everything you’re required to pay for by your taxes moral? If not why are you required to pay it?

We say it’s okay to covet as long as you do it through the education system to get your 10,000 square foot home.

We said it’s okay to kill as long as it’s a baby.

Utah has a legislature full of latter-day saints who don’t do anything impressive.

Zion will be a kingdom with a king, not a political government. And the Elders of Israel are nowhere near able to setup and maintain a system of freedom.

Today we are electing people who do not advocate religious principles and we are electing people we don’t even know.

The biblical organization for government is rulers of 10 rulers of 50 rulers of 100. Imagine that you had this system of a ruler of 10 would that ruler put you in jail for not providing for abortions, would they take your money to pay for their education etc.?

The Book of Mormon says when people are righteous they only elect leaders who have the spirit of prophecy and the spirit of prophecy is the spirit of Christ which is the spirit of Liberty, these are not people who would allow you to be hauled off to jail for being good. So if your society is not electing righteous people with the spirit of God you simply are not living in a righteous society.

We all need to ask if we are contributing to the same mistakes of our fathers.

Neil A Maxwell said it’s hard to live Celestial laws when you are in celestial traffic. However people use this quote as an excuse that it’s okay to live telestial. We are very comfortable living in this Celestial world, we don’t want the change. The context of the Maxwell quote was not to suggest it’s okay to live in a Celestial way he was saying we have to do the difficult things to live Celestial now

Christ never justified living in a telestial way just because the system did and he was living in the system. We have to get out of the system.

There’s no need to question the apostolic keys held by the brethren. Every faith crisis that people are going through could be resolved by the study of the scriptures.

  1. On the Lord’s Soon Return: Do We Believe & Act Accordingly?

As a church we profess to believe that Christ will literally come again, but we don’t act like it. It’s like Jesus told the Pharisees, they profess, but they don’t really act live it.

We learn in Hosea and John 4 with the woman at the well we learn that there are two days, in other words 2000 years until when Christ returns. From the time of about 30AD when John 4 occurred we arrive at Christ’s return in the area of 2030.

Hosea 6:2: “2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.”

John 4:40-43: “40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

41 And many more believed because of his own word;

42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

43 ¶ Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.”

How long can we be at church who professes that Christ will rule and reign in the 7th thousand years and not be living for it? It’s about time we preach that Christ is coming back and live like it.

D&C 77:6-7, 13: “6 Q. What are we to understand by the book which John saw, which was sealed on the back with seven seals? A. We are to understand that it contains the revealed will, mysteries, and the works of God; the hidden things of his economy concerning this earth during the seven thousand years of its continuance, or its temporal existence.”

7 Q. What are we to understand by the seven seals with which it was sealed? A. We are to understand that the first seal contains the things of the first thousand years, and the second also of the second thousand years, and so on until the seventh. 13 Q. When are the things to be accomplished, which are written in the 9th chapter of Revelation? A. They are to be accomplished after the opening of the seventh seal, before the coming of Christ.”

Note- there are many other passages which build the case the Lord comes soon in the 7th thousand years, which period we appear to be in.

The reason Abinadi was burned at the stake is because he said God would literally come down among the people, they said this is blasphemy and they burned him.

Lehi left Jerusalem 13 years before it was destroyed. 11 years after he left his neighbors back home were surely thinking he was crazy.

When you give people an estimated date of when the Lord is probably coming they often say oh great to have some more time. Some more time to do what live in Babylon?

  1. A Book of Mormon Parallel with the 2020 Covid Tyranny:

2001 was the first year of the new millennium because year 2000 was the last year of the prior millennium. We celebrated your 2000 as the New millennium but it wasn’t the new millennium yet. Book of Mormon speaks of how it was a siege on the people in the 21st year and this is what we saw in 2021.

If we Mark the year 2000 as the new millennium then your 2000 becomes year number one instead of year 2001 being your number one. We set ourselves off by one year. The 21st year of the Nephites new millennium would be marked as the year 21. The 21st year of our new millennium was 2020.

3 Ne. 4:16: “16 And in the twenty and first year they did not come up to battle, but they came up on all sides to lay siege round about the people of Nephi; for they did suppose that if they should cut off the people of Nephi from their lands, and should hem them in on every side, and if they should cut them off from all their outward privileges, that they could cause them to yield themselves up according to their wishes.”

In 2020 there was a siege upon the people of the world wear a secret combination cut off all the people and them in on every side and cut the world off from its outward privileges to get the people to give themselves up according to the secret combination almost exactly one year after president Nelson said in Rome Italy that we were at a hinge point in the church history.

When the government shutdown everything and took freedoms in 2020, the church immediately shutdown all its churches and temples. There was no resistance to the tyranny. (Note- in another lecture, he clarifies that the church had to do what it did as that was the political condition; we have failed to make a land of liberty where that wouldn’t have happened. So far as the church goes, they just administer the church and obey the law. It was up to the people, not the church, to resist.)

The Book of Mormon is incredibly relevant here by year to our modern lives.
